The artist responsible for the box art here fuelled my imagination though my early teens. Larry Elmore created many of the images in the #DungeonsAndDragons materials on which we based our fantasy role-playing games. He also created a comic strip for Dragon magazine called Snarf Quest. @dgar I have not but I remember the Red Box for sure. I was in kindergarten when my older brother got the box. I also remember when D&D was banned from school. 80's were wild.
@dgar he was just so good at creating the sense of a whole world surrounding the images he created. Every detail pulled you in further and begged you to imagine the whole world that led to this moment.
I did however purchase the ‘red box’ starter kit from a newsagent in Armidale (NSW) back in the day, having no idea what I’d bought, and the artwork has always stayed in my mind.
