@w7voa
Jesus H. Christ. "The airplane was a newly manufactured Boeing 737-9, delivered to Alaska Airlines on Oct. 31. On three occasions a light indicating pressurization problems had turned on, most recently Jan. 4 — the day before the accident, Homendy said.

Although Alaska Airlines characterized the warning issue as 'benign,' the airline decided to restrict the plane from flying over water, to Hawaii for example."

    @GhostOnTheHalfShell @w7voa I mean, it's still safer than driving. But it's rare that both a manufacturer and an airline are responsible for an incident, as they likely will be in this case. Usually, it's human error by maintenance or pilots. (I used to be an aircrash defense lawyer.)

    @w7voa "The cockpit voice recorder yielded no data because it overwrites data after two hours without outside intervention, Homendy said." MAYbe something that should be addressed? Non-volatile storage is cheap nowadays...😳

    dampscribbler,

    @w7voa I'm curious where it was found, I hope we hear that at some point.

    Very glad it's found and can be examined.

  • dampscribbler,

    @kevbob @w7voa yes, I also live in the area. But I see now that it was found in his yard, so I imagine he'll want the location protected for his privacy and sanity. Understandable!
