@RickiTarr I got the nickname indieb0i from a rivethead I dated. The name fit, but I really did have to explain to her the difference between me and the scenesters. Like I got so annoyed at all the shushing during a Jets to Brazil concert.
Besides, when I dyed my hair I went reddish with that "just got out of bed" vibe. Maybe that's why all groups seemed to accept me.

I dated this one guy for about 4 months in college, but he was vegan and straight edge and took everything very seriously. I couldn't stop making fun of him whilst eating animals, drinking, and smoking.
Once we had a fight and I paid my kid brother $1 to put a chicken leg in his glove box.
@RickiTarr In high school my friends and I were the emo kids, but we were too lazy to dress in any special way or style our hair. Well, except for Gabby, but she went all out punk so I'm not sure if she counts.

@RickiTarr i'm too old to have been emo, though i would have been goth if i'd know it existed -- however, i grew up in a cornfield. gothed out in college a little. used to goth up for clubs. haven't done that in ages though. this is from january 2020, probably after the last huge kink event i was at before the whole world fell apart.

@RickiTarr I wore black tees and jeans sometimes in high school because I knew I was too unrepentently sinful and bisexual for my Catholic upbringing to work. I figured my soul was black, so I should show it.
I parted ways with religion long ago now. I think humanism and DEI is better. I like jewel tones and tie dye, but I prefer black jeans and still wear black shirts sometimes.
@RickiTarr I'm old enough that emo wasn't a thing when I was coming up. We were metallers. Some of us still are (though my music tastes are bit more eclectic now). I don't think there are many pictures off me back then.

We took turns choosing the music for the day and they’d always put on Jane’s Addiction or something. I’d choose top 40 radio and I’m sure they hated it. This was a couple years before Nirvana changed my mind.

@RickiTarr I've only got this one photo of me in my favorite This Mortal Coil tee, but the bright sunlight probably cancels out any emo. I still love the shirt, I may need to hold it together with safety pins soon.
