Is it just me or does TNG do a good job avoiding this trope, generally? I really love in the momentum escape from that asteroid field trap how Picard takes Geordis word that his power use is essential and doesn’t make demands
I liked how in Voyager The Captain told the chief engineer to make something happen in half the estimate she gave and the engineer replied “No. If I say it’s going to take 3 days, then that’s how long we need. I don’t fluff my estimates”.
When someone is shouting technobabble, the ship is looking at them like that, with deep weariness. “Someone please give me a shot of B12 and a sandwich or somethin, we are so far from a stardock…”
