In a breakthrough in saltwater crocodile conservation in the country, Bangladesh has started using a satellite tagging system to monitor the species’ movements, habits, and life span in the Sundarbans mangroves. These mangrove forests are the animal’s only wild habitat in Bangladesh.
A mugger crocodile lurks at the Sariska Tiger Reserve in northern India. It is an apex predator and, rather worryingly, has been seen deploying twigs and sticks to lure birds during their nest-building season, making it one of the first reptiles to use tools to catch prey.
