At the end of 2020, I created this cover illustration for a recapitulating publication of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Despite the negative events, the illustration needed a positive vibe. Hence the convivial snowglobe.

Created in Blender and rendered with Octane Render.

Voxel-style 3D illustration for a 2005 issue of a Dutch magazine, about the attraction of working for large corporations.

There were no voxel editors yet in 2005, and I guess Shell was still a relatively attractive employer. 😏

Made a little video, showing some elements that make up my TMNT Donatello.

I'm often making use of the Groove Blend option in MagicaCSG, which allows you to extrude an area using the intersection with another object.

Operating Superstars intro — Petunia Rockie Tramell

Petunia represents the Commodore PET and Commodore’s later business-oriented computers such as the CBM 3000 and 4000 lines. The first of Ready Fleet’s microcomputers and served as the team’s mentor until disbandment. She is friendly, polite and has a knack for teaching and a talent for hardware repair. She was highly successful in the education and business venues, but struggled as an entertainer in the home venues.

As much as she may always try to keep up a professional demeanor, she has also has a silly side and can be easily amused.

Started a new sculpting project in Blender Sculpt Mode.

I love SDF modeling, but I also like to remain adroit in traditional 3D sculpting. Both techniques have their own charm.

In this stage I'm determining the global shapes and add some crude first details.

Separated his shirt to a separate object, and started detailing the head.

I like Blender Sculpt Mode. I prefer certain tools over similar tools in ZBrush or 3D-Coat, such as Blender's Elastic Deform tool, making use of Kelvinlets for silky-smooth deformation.

More will follow tomorrow.

Blender portrait sculpture work-in-progress stages.

I decided to sculpt this guy as a single mesh, instead of the usual blocking out with separate primitives. Then I separated the shirt once that was sufficiently shaped.

Tried Leiapix's automatic depth algorithm on an old 3D-rendered image of mine.

Nice result out of the box, with only a few minor errors here and there.
