For few months now, I use an #iPad for personal stuff, instead of a #laptop.
Downloading files from the net is a bit a pain in the ass, but otherwise, I’m satisfied. I design with #figma via Figurative, and do #geek stuff on my #nas thanks the #LaTerminal app (cc @Migueldeicaza).
I’ll give @penpot a try because the browser engine is #safari, on my pro computer with #firefox it doesn’t work at all.
But on the Magic Keyboard, there is no ESC key, WHY ??? That’s incredible to me and missing. 🤔
I'm happy to say that ever since I started using Flatpak's desktop #Penpot package, its become one of my favorite programs and I use it every day day now. And it just got a slick new upgrade. So now I finally have a #clojure application in my daily repertoire.
Way better than #Figma, which has become total garbage ever since #Adobe bought it.
can you really not change the colour of an element in a component in #figma? Say I have a card component, I can't make the fill on it a custom property?
get a load of this well-organised #figma file I got from my sister. is this common? any good articles about organising figma files? mine are just freestyled really (scruffy)
You know how it is: You start writing one #blog article, but while writing you come up with an idea for another one. And here it is, how to cancel a #figma subscription:
I want this to be the default copy option in Figma (or at least let me control it in settings)
I copy and paste things daily and I do this stupid thing where I copy, paste into a browser URL to get rid of styling, and paste it back in my comp. I've gotten ridiculously fast at this, but it's ANNOYING
Edit: Thank you @brettpeary for showing me that this command will fix this problem: Command + shift + v
I have to admit I am gloating a little bit… my former university started to use #AdobeXD and required/strongly suggested all students use it a while ago, because it was free to use. I thought that decision was very unfortunate back then and used #Sketch before switching to #Figma. Now #Aodbe is sunsetting #XD. It is no longer available as a standalone download and you need a paid subscription to download it as part of CC.
Once again facing that classic #designsystem conundrum: Theme and/or customize a 3rd party component library, or build one from scratch.
Actually, we need two component libs: A #WebComponent one for web products and a #ReactNative one for iOS & Android apps. We already have designs in #Figma and want to have parity in terms of design & naming across Figma, web & RN.
My gut and past experiences make me lean towards building from scratch.
Say I have a path with straight lines, I want to turn one corner into an arc of a circle. Are there any vector tools that allow me to easily do that, with a simple input of the circle radius (e.g. drag up & down to increase & decrease the radius)?
While I'm kinda happy #Adobe's purchase of #Figma didn't go through (I like that there's some competition) I do think there's an opportunity for Adobe to build a Figma-like application that leans more heavily towards graphic design and less toward web/digital product design. Give us Illustrator-class vector tools, better PDF exporting, awareness of inks, etc.
Has anyone here used Figma? What to do when there is no Add Flow Starting Point? Currently I can only have one flow and need multiple. #figma#uidesign#ui
Large animations can easily be highly distractive for folks with #ADHD. Being able to pause them individually doesn't make things much better, especially if reloading the page starts them all over again.
It's really disappointing to see a design-focused company like #Figma use that type of purely gratuitous graphics on their #Config conference website, and do so without offering a way to disable them all at once across the site.
That’s a sad lack of consideration for true #A11Y. 🙁🤨🤬
I just tried a few AI plugins for #figma and they were all bad. This domain might be a great test for #LLMs . I predict these failings are unlikely to be fixed any time soon:
Layout was poor
They can't create components
Laughably complex object hierarchies (everything was enclosed in a frame)
Of course things will improve, but I expect fixing these deep structural problems are a function of many new constraints, likely beyond what today's LLMs are actually capable of. @simon ?
Je trouve ça fou que #figma ne prenne pas en compte les unités relatives.
Genre j'ai un conteneur en auto-layout et je veux que ses enfants fasse 50% chacun.
Bah c'est pas possible apparemment.
