This record is super special to me - it was one of the first cassette tapes I ever owned. I used to listen to this with my father every time we went from his house to the grocery store or anywhere else in town. The tape was perennially in the deck in the Isuzu Trooper (don’t know what year, but old). I know this album backward and forward since childhood. #LynyrdSkynyrd

HEAVY HISTORY 52 years ago today (1971) the Casino Montreux (Casino Barrière de Montreux) in Montreux, Switzerland 🔥 had a fire during the FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION concert and DEEP PURPLE watched and wrote a song about it. It was called “Smoke On The Water”
50 years ago, Lynyrd Skynyrd released their first album "(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)," which included the classic "Free Bird." In this 2019 story from Garden & Gun, the band speak about how the song was written, recording the album, and their return to performing, a decade after the plane crash that killed founding member Ronnie Van Zant.

Wat opvalt is dat motor -en auto-ongelukken samen met vliegtuigongelukken heel veel artiesten in één ruk van de aardbodem deden verdwijnen.
Met vooral 3 februari 1959 als belangrijkste dag, waarin 3 grote beloftevolle sterren stierven in een vliegtuigcrash.
