Needed some time to get used to it but I really like @MonaApp 's approach to discovery. A single tab gets you to a certain instance where you then can switch between all its feeds on a second layer. Thus the tree icon. 🌳💚
The only thing I am missing is seeing the hashtag results of the chosen instance. Right now choosing a trending hashtag from a remote instance shows me the hashtag feed of my home instance. Which always leads to the same results.
Thanks for the update @MonaApp.
What I need is a character next to the timestamp in the top right if the post is a reply. I also use Bluesky via skybridge in your app. As it is now it is not clear whether it's a post or a reply.
Thank you. #mona#monaapp
For the last 4 years, the Tasmanian Museum of Old and New Art has been running an installation called The Ladies Lounge. Only people who identify as ladies are allowed to enter. In the lounge, they can sit in luxury and look at famous artworks by Picasso etc, which are not available elsewhere in the museum. They are served champagne and pampered by male butlers. It was meant as a comment on exclusionary men's clubs (which still exist in Australia and elsewhere).
Some dude got upset about it and sued the gallery for entry at the anti-discrimination tribunal. The artist, Kirsha Kaechele, said she was "absolutely delighted" that the exhibit had been taken to court. “The men are experiencing Ladies Lounge, their experience of rejection is the artwork,” she said.
She then turned the tribunal hearing into part of the art as well, by having a group of women observing the hearing dress like her and mimic her every move. They did not disrupt the hearing, and at the end of proceedings they exited the tribunal to the song Simply Irresistible.
Kaechele argued in her defence the Ladies Lounge was a “a response to the lived experience of women forbidden from entering certain spaces throughout history” and promoted equal opportunity.
The tribunal found against the gallery and is ordering them to allow men to enter the exhibit. MONA is removing the exhibit instead.
Again and again @ivory - in #ivory I see this Problem a lot. A posting with a short video clip. In Ivory I see just a gray area. If I tap it, I get a black (empty) player. Nothing plays.
I tap the share icon and select „open in Mona“ - I see the posting with a preview of that video. If I tap it, it instantly plays.
Don’t tell me it’s the server/instance or something. This works in #Mona and #IceCubes and I could check the older toot! If I need to. Only with ivory i see this problem.
#Ivory is still my favorite and go-to #Mastodon client, though I have several others on my phone I use for different reasons. (As Scott pointed out, Ivory does require a paid sub)
#Feditext is awesome, but is in TestFlight beta rn
#Mammoth: Is a great looking, free app with some cool features like "Smart Lists”. Some mild bugginess here and there though
#IceCubes is awesome and open source but struggles with some timeline mgmt stuff
Hey @MonaApp, I've noticed a weird thing in #Mona V6.2.1. I can schedule a post to be sent out at a later date/time, but if I try to schedule another one after that, I get an error that states that the post couldn't be read because the data format is incorrect. To make this even weirder, subsequently scheduled posts that include this error still get sent out at the scheduled time. Any idea what's going on and how I can fix it, or is this something you'll have to resolve on your end?
I’m trying out the Mastodon client “Mona” and I do have to say that it’s surprisingly feature-rich. It really allows you to set almost every aspect of the app to your liking.. #Mona#iOS
When composing Mastodon replies with multiple mentioned users, I like to move all but the first mentioned user to the end (after the text) for screen reader readability. Unfortunately, #Mona on iOS only gives me a multi-select list to control who's mentioned, not the raw text, and so I can't see a way to achieve this other than removing people and reinserting the mentions manually (haha not gonna happen). Anybody got any tips, or @MonaApp would you please consider implementing a way to accommodate this?
There are a lot of different interesting front end projects. These let us access our home servers via an app or an alternate webpage front end.
#Icecubes#Mona#Tusky#Elk are a few examples of #Mastodon front end projects. Many of these have some unique features that vanilla webpage Mastodon doesn't yet.
We can always access our servers by just typing their address in to an internet browser to get the regular webpage frontend too.
Everything is all connected, these are just a few examples of additional ways of navigating & experiencing. So we can use several routes, depending on need, mood or device. Regardless of which frontend we use, our account(s) remain the same so it's safe to experiment and try things out. #Help#HelpThread#Welcome#New#Newbies#NewHere#FediTips
I think we should slightly rethink how login works on most Fediverse apps (Mastodon, Lemmy, but not only)
A while ago I posted a thread back on the...
