If you see someone mentioning a technology (or something else) you want to check out later, set a bookmark (Inside your client) in addition to boosting it, because it's hard to find what you boosted a few weeks later.
You are other people's algorithm. Make sure to boost interesting posts, otherwise they will not get visibility beyond an audience following the hashtag.
For those on iOS, have a look at #IceCubes, you can set in into a Twitter-like single column mode.
I decided to start using Metatext (the mastodon app) for my on the go use. Haven’t used it for posting yet so here it is the first text post for my phone :3
Again and again @ivory - in #ivory I see this Problem a lot. A posting with a short video clip. In Ivory I see just a gray area. If I tap it, I get a black (empty) player. Nothing plays.
I tap the share icon and select „open in Mona“ - I see the posting with a preview of that video. If I tap it, it instantly plays.
Don’t tell me it’s the server/instance or something. This works in #Mona and #IceCubes and I could check the older toot! If I need to. Only with ivory i see this problem.
#Ivory is still my favorite and go-to #Mastodon client, though I have several others on my phone I use for different reasons. (As Scott pointed out, Ivory does require a paid sub)
#Feditext is awesome, but is in TestFlight beta rn
#Mammoth: Is a great looking, free app with some cool features like "Smart Lists”. Some mild bugginess here and there though
#IceCubes is awesome and open source but struggles with some timeline mgmt stuff
Got a little time this morning so I’m going to test out Mona’s new long post threading feature by telling the story of why we are so fucking psyched to have finally closed on a house in Denver.
So Allie and I had great jobs in NYC, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a space we actually wanted in NYC—at least without the kind of sacrifice we’d need to make for a meager two-bedroom condo in a decent neighborhood. (1/7)
Ice cubes nie synchronizuje przeczytanych na ios? Nie wiem jak Ivory bo obecnie nie mam... Na iphone przeczytane na ipad zatrzymał się na ostatnim przegladaniu na ipadzie #ios#ivory#icecubes
I’m trying out the #IceCubes app and it looks and works awesome! It, somehow, reminds me of the #Apollo Reddit app in terms of the appearance, polish, and the customisability! Great job, @dimillian! ❤️
Is it possible to add a live feed of another instance somewhere? - Works great for the home instance, but it seems like a pain to surf or keep up with other instances.
🇬🇧 My way of reading #Mastodon was lists (I did the same on #Twitter). However, @IceCubesApp has some problem with remembering the position where I last finished scrolling the list, which is not the case with the Home Page, where the position is saved perfectly. Because of this, I have reduced the following list slightly and given up on lists. #IceCubes wins over @ivory in many other things anyway, so I'm not abandoning it over minor inconveniences.
@estebanknobl Some client apps have one or more of these features. For example, #IceCubes for iOS has “tag groups” and the ability to filter boosts and replies.
When I go to my profile or someone else's, there's buttons for Posts, Posts and replies and Media. There's also a count of Posts. Posts include boosts.
Just want to see the account's creations. Not interested in what they have boosted.
Have searched #FediTips but have not found an answer.
@Iragersh Unfortunately I don’t think that’s possible at the moment (I would like something like that too!).
There is a third-party website that does it: https://justmytoots.com/
There are a lot of different interesting front end projects. These let us access our home servers via an app or an alternate webpage front end.
#Icecubes#Mona#Tusky#Elk are a few examples of #Mastodon front end projects. Many of these have some unique features that vanilla webpage Mastodon doesn't yet.
We can always access our servers by just typing their address in to an internet browser to get the regular webpage frontend too.
Everything is all connected, these are just a few examples of additional ways of navigating & experiencing. So we can use several routes, depending on need, mood or device. Regardless of which frontend we use, our account(s) remain the same so it's safe to experiment and try things out. #Help#HelpThread#Welcome#New#Newbies#NewHere#FediTips
I think we should slightly rethink how login works on most Fediverse apps (Mastodon, Lemmy, but not only)
A while ago I posted a thread back on the...
