We have had our fair share of tropical storms here in the upstate of South Carolina, but the closest a hurricane has come to Greenville (while still remaining at hurricane strength) was Hugo, in 1989, and that was only 90 miles away. 😮
Idalia is still at hurricane strength. #Idalia#SCwx

We have a Monday evening update on Tropical Storm #Idalia, which is expected to become a hurricane tonight. Extremely serious surge impacts are expected in the #Florida Big Bend, and there is no real modern precedent for the expected strength of storm in this area. Wind impacts will expand out far from the center including #Tampa, #Ocala, #Gainesville, and perhaps #Jacksonville. Heavy rain is expected as well.
