Severe weather warnings on the East Coast are over the top. The yellow here are tornado watches -- have never seen so many at once. Orange is Severe Thunderstorm warnings. Wind warnings, flood advisories, flash flood warnings... you name it.

We have had our fair share of tropical storms here in the upstate of South Carolina, but the closest a hurricane has come to Greenville (while still remaining at hurricane strength) was Hugo, in 1989, and that was only 90 miles away. 😮

Idalia is still at hurricane strength.

We have a Monday evening update on Tropical Storm , which is expected to become a hurricane tonight. Extremely serious surge impacts are expected in the Big Bend, and there is no real modern precedent for the expected strength of storm in this area. Wind impacts will expand out far from the center including , , , and perhaps . Heavy rain is expected as well.
