“Lancrastians liked clocks, although they didn't bother much about actual time in any length much shorter than an hour. If you needed to boil an egg, you sang fifteen verse of 'Where Had All The Custard Gone?' under your breath. But the tick was a comfort on long evenings.”

My Spring clock-changing tips:

  1. Don’t tell the dog*

  2. Microwave LED clock annoying you? SWITCH IT OFF AT THE MAINS when you’re not actually using it. It could be costing you upwards of £50/yr to power that thing… I AM NOT JOKING.

  3. Feeling smug that your appliances reset themselves? Don’t. You are one automatic software update away from your fridge shopping you for thought-crimes or some shit.

*this one changes for autumn.

So when are we going to get rid of fake time? I thought Europe had it in hand and then ... birdsong.

Dear world. No I do not want to live on daylight savings time. Standard works just fine.

Every argument we've ever heard in support of Daylight "Saving" Time is really just an argument for shorter work days.

"I don't want it to get dark when I'm leaving work" okay then. Correct. Humans are set up to have fewer active hours during the short-light season. We should be working less!

We just have shorter light available when the planet is tilted in that direction, we're not making daytime longer by changing the hours back and forth. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It took a while, but I finally finished changing all my clocks. Doing my watch took the longest. It's hard for me to write that small.

A large percentage of Americans – Two-thirds! – say we can do away with all together.

Ultimately, while the ‘extra’ hour of sunlight in the evenings feels exciting to some, it comes with significant health trade-offs.

Time changing in the US is totally ridiculous and absurd in my opinion.

I've been up since 3am EST due to time change and there's just no need for it.

The US really needs to stop doing time change or at least the state I live in needs to quit doing it once and for all.
