I introduced MDMRNia (12) to Rolling Quartz and we just cycled through a bunch of their songs / covers. She's hooked.
Sending her some of the tracks off my phone via Bluetooth to her phone.
Also, Little MDMRN I gave an early birthday present - membership into They Might Be Giants' "Instant Fan Club." They'll be getting CDs, digital downloads, and other merch throughout the year from TMBG. They were super hyped about it. Wide grin while reading the email with the details about the membership.
This week's Tune Tuesday from @Kitty has a theme of "Songs About History" from @VestigialLung.
Since I haven't done a TMBG song for these in a minute and, frankly, it's the first one that come to mind - let's all have a lesson on the single term President, by choice, James Knox Polk.
Today in 1990, They Might Be Giants released their classic album, Flood. Featuring Birdhouse In Your Soul, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), and Particle Man, it's probably their most well loved album.
Oh yea, it's Jukebox Friday Night (in the afternoon). The theme is apparently "Transcendence" / "Lose Yourself" - or to quote, "uplifting, joyous & otherworldly tunes..."
CHECK IT OUT! We received our first two #ColorMeTMBG coloring contest entries, and they are fantastic! (Way to go, nixonbubble and they_might_be_tortoise!) There are prizes to be had and joy to be spread, so visit https://www.tmbg.love/contest for details on how YOU can enter!
Here's their summary of it: "Long a popular bootleg among folks who enjoy that kind of thing, these demo sessions for They’s fifth album John Henry mark a fascinating moment in the evolution of that project and their evolution as a band."
Enjoy!
EDIT: This may only be available free for a limited time, so...check it out soon, if interested.

TMBG has always been feel good comfort music to me; reminding me of a very joyful run of years in my life.
I owe every ounce of the love I have for them to the cartoon Tiny Toons Adventures, which I was obsessed with as a kid, and kind of still am.
Okay, I've been thinking #TuneTuesday and as we're talking about #TheCircleOfLife & I've had a lot of #TheyMightBeGiants on the brain, here's their song "Dead" which seems feels kind of fitting for the theme.
