Britain’s ‘most dangerous’ years lie ahead, warns Sunak. It’s cheap politics from a floundering PM

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/13/sunak-most-dangerous-britain-values

Comment is neither free or easy on the Gruaniad. I notice that Jenkins (a Brexit supporting unionist) failed to mention that Scots were included in Sunaks list of threats.

So much for free comment, and another reason I dropped my contribution to this SE England rag.

"An estimated 90,000 Kenyans were slaughtered in the Kikuyu uprising while just over a thousand were hanged on a portable gibbet. Some 160,000 were detained in internment camps where torture was routine.

"One of Britain’s victims was US President Barack Obama’s paternal grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, who was arrested in 1949, and tortured by having pins inserted under his fingernails."

Kitson brought to Belfast his experiences in Kenya, fighting the Kikuyu Land and Freedom Army (exotically dubbed the “Mau Mau” by the British) in the early 1950s where he honed a practice of using “turned” or “converted” rebels into “counter-gangs”.

"The battle of the Bogside was an important catalyst for change, triggering a determined British government intervention that ended the unionist monopoly on power. But it also marked the beginning of 30 years of violent conflict that would claim the lives of more than 3,600 people and bring untold suffering."

Change the record lads! The Protocol/Framework isn't going anywhere - the food labelling has started.

We in NI haven't lost anything...despite what the tell you. The King is still the head of state and we still pay our taxes to HMRC!

So what exactly have we lost???

As usual after another election which saw not get their vote out. (Why isn't Jeff appealing to the Unionist voter?) Plus the taking more votes from a smaller shrinking pool.

Unionism decides that their attempts to fix their problems is to talk to themselves! Not getting out there & talking to the people who stayed at home!

It is time for some uncomfortable truths for Unionism - they aren't appealing to the leafy wealthy areas of anymore. Sinn Fein did if you look at where they gained seats last week - eg Balmoral! Plus some Unionists who voted must have given a transfer to them.

So what does that tell them about their current path? Unionism isn't coming out to vote & moderate are voting for in greater numbers. Why Jeff?
