@glynmoody I'm certainly no fan of #brexit (quite the opposite), but if #WhatsApp were to disappear it would be no loss. Faecesbook – sorry, 'meta' – already has too large a share of big tech intrusion into our private lives. #Signal (https://signal.org/) is a superior product in any case; in my opinion we should all be switching to that in droves anyway.
#Twitter is a proprietary platform. #Facebook is a proprietary platform. #WhatsApp is a proprietary platform. #Instagram is a proprietary platform. #Telegram is a proprietary platform. #Signal is a proprietary platform. #Mastodon is a proprietary platform.
Finally, the #FTC intends to impose real #privacy rules on #Meta: New services or service changes only after an independent privacy evaluation shows that they are compliant. No commercial use of data harvested from #underage users.
US-Behörde: Facebook immer noch "substanzielles öffentliches Risiko"
Trotz Rekordstrafe soll Meta weiter Datenschutzauflagen verletzt haben. Die FTC will jetzt speziell Kinder schützen. Ob das Manöver gelingt, ist offen.
Hopefully by next summer I can finally leave this unhappy 3/8ths of humanity (once the #DMA makes #WhatsApp interoperable)

Zuckerberg as @Meta earnings call gets underway: "We reached the milestone that now more than 3 billion people use one of our apps each day." Actually, 3.02 billion daily active users, on average in March. https://twitter.com/Swiftstories/status/1651331456302555137
It's interesting to me that so many of us are regular smartphone users now, and we all use them in such different ways.
Figured I'd look at my phone's most used apps as I've never paid much attention to it before. Out of the 55 apps I've used in the last 6 days, yeah, my top 6 aren't a surprise to me at all. 🤣

Although today is not #caturday, I'm trying to test theory that an #opengraph images lighter than 300KB can break the "whatsapp sometimes doesn't share the image" curse.
Even #Facebook ❗
The only place where I and lots of people on [#stackexchange] get these problems is #Whatsapp.
Maybe the quickest fix would be to tell my friends to move to Signal :marx_thinking:
I have finally decided that I'll use #Matrix & #XMPP for those who are somewhat or is tech-literate (also with friends) and then use #WhatsApp & #LINE for family and tech-illiterate people 💬
