@admin The data transfer happens before the registration. So, it happens without consent.

I am not asking for me, but for all users.

Transferring data before getting consent is a very clear violation of GDPR and, also in your own interest, should by all means be fixed.

Have you tried opening https://floss.social in a browser and looking at the list of contacted domains in uBlock Origin, or whatever tool you like?

@admin Sorry, but I am afraid your knowledge about what personal identifying information is off.

tl;dr: Browser meta-data and IP addresses are PII.

And, per law and existing court ruling, you must not transfer such data without consent, and the rulings specifically talk about loading scripts from external servers.

Your website must never contact any host outside of your domain before getting explicit consent.

FLOSS.social does contact b-cdn.net and shields.io before getting consent.

When a (VC backed) Open Source project demands from you, a community member, to sign a CLA (Contributory License Agreement) that forces you to give up your rights on your code - RUN. et all who unfortunately, really sorry, kudos, love you switch their licenses to proprietary whenever they feel like it.

Heute ist in Bonn eine Demo über die mittlere Brücke möglich, obwohl die nördliche und südliche Brücken gesperrt sind. Die Lokalpresse berichtet aufgebracht.

Als wir am 8. November 2020 in Rahmen einer Demonstration gegen den Ausbau der A 565 auf ebenjener mit dem Fahrrad fahren wollten, wurde dies wegen einer Baustelle irgendwo im Ruhrgebiet abgelehnt. Es würde zu Verkehrschaos führen.

Irgendwie passt da etwas nicht zusammen für mich.

The downsides of being frugal.

The Foundation spends, even with a slightly more ambitious budget this year than previously, less than %1 of what WMF/Wikipedia does, but is struggling to make ends meet.

There is no threat a la the infamous Wikipedia ads that the project will shut down, but without the funds activities will have to be cut back significantly.

Starting at , I have started to try on my laptop. As a Developer, I felt reluctant to try something else, and Debian is a great project.

However, as I am teaching openSUSE at Linuxhotel, I thought I should maybe get more familiar with it 🤣. Also, I had already fallen in love with .

A bit annoying is how repository mirror synchronisation works. It is not atomic, resulting in repository metadata being out of sync during mirroring.

With Tumbleweed snapshotting once per day, this basically means that repositories are broken 50% of the time and cannot be refreshed in the meantime :/.
