Millions of students in all public schools across the Philippines ordered to stay home after authorities cancelled classes for 2 days... avoid outdoor activities & drink plenty of water, but the young & the elderly were told to be especially careful.
#Cambodia this year is facing the highest temperatures in 170 years. #Thailand's Department of Disease Control said last week > 30 people have died from heat stroke, compared to 37 for all of last year.
UNRWA: Over the past few days, #Gaza has been undergoing an unusual #heatwave This made the already inhumane living conditions even worse for 1.5 million people, mostly living under plastic sheets in #Rafah. We received reports that at least two children died due to the heat.
What more to endure: death, hunger, disease, displacement, and now living in greenhouses-like structures under scorching heat. We cannot afford on top of this misery, a major military operation to go ahead.

AlJazeera: Gaza Civil Defence issues #HeatRisk warning to displaced Palestinians
As temperatures soar in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Civil Defence has warned that conditions are ripe for “the expansion of the spread of epidemics & diseases among [displaced Palestinians], especially among children & pregnant women”.
“Drink plenty of water, try to ventilate the place, keep children away from the sun’s rays, especially at peak heat times, & be sure to wipe their bodies with cold water constantly”, spokesperson Basal said in a statement on Telegram, speaking to the thousands of displaced Palestinians currently sheltering in tents.
NOAA HeatRisk is a new, experimental color coded scheme showing:
How unusual the heat is for the time of the year
The duration of the heat including both daytime and nighttime temperatures
If those temperatures pose an elevated risk of heat-related impacts based on data from the CDC
"The Heat-Health Risk Index is an approach and evidence base that helps us understand the ways that health-risk varies socially and spatially across #Australia.
It uses the latest data and thinking on the social, economic, built, and natural environments to create indicators of how communities are at risk to adverse heat-health outcomes."
