I got a new car! It's an EV and we discussed that and many other battery items on The Amp Hour this week: https://theamphour.com/662-the-non-stinky-car/

carlosperate,

@chris_gammell is there more info about the trade show project with ? I'd love to hear more about it 😃

Was sorting through a pile of fabric pieces and came across this fabric panel decorated with iron-on vinyl and eyelets to look like a microbit. It was supposed to be part of a bag, but I never got around to completing it. The eyelets are spaced to hold an LEDs string behind them. Now I'm thinking it might look cute sewn to the back of a denim jacket.

Gave my desk a makeover based on some leftovers I had (the black holes are from soldering strips together). Really digging the soothing moving gradient. It's powered by an old BBC that connects to MakeCode over . 🐡 FTW!

I'm hosting a free webinar tomorrow! Discover how the micro:bit Python Editor has been designed to support teachers and learners and helps to overcome common barriers students face when getting started with text-based coding. Wednesday, 4 pm UK time. https://microbit.org/teach/events/exploring-microbit-python-editor/

Amazing day at the Royal Institution Youth Summit in London, listening to young people's hopes, fears and questions about & - and I got to to a live science demonstration where Michael Faraday stood, with volunteers from the audience in true Christmas Lectures style!

My student volunteers collecting training data and training an ML model to recognise waving and clapping gestures using live data from the BBC micro:bit's accelerometer.

Lovely to see the primary students receiving their free BBC micro:bits from DanTDM on CBBC Newsround - I was lucky enough to teach Dan some coding on Wednesday!

Looking through some older sewing projects, I found this micro:bit computer bag I sewed years ago. The DIY LED matrix I made (before super flexible LED strings existed) was broken, so I replaced it with a flexible string (see next post for matrix picture), and now it is functional and sturdier than before.

A laptop bag with a zip top laying on a green cutting mat. The front of the bag is decorated to look like a micro:bit microcontroller, and where the micro:bit LEDs are located, the bag lights up with 25 neopixels arranged in a 5x5 matrix alternating between displaying a green picture of a musical note, a red heart and a blue happy face. The micro:bit microcontroller that drives the display can be seen at the top of the bag.

Also realised I could just install on my old laptop, rather than getting rid of it

Get a clue... with RP2040 or ESP32-S3 🧩🔌📡💡💻🔧⚙️🛠️🤖🔬

The Clue series started with an nRF52840 and was supposed to get expanded to cover RP2040 and ESP32-Sx chipsets - and we even did full layouts in mid 2021 before getting our hopes smashed by ST sensor chip shortages (we use a loooot of ST sensors on these boards...)

well we actually have a shot of making these now. we'll have to replace the accel-gyro from the LSM6DS33 to LSM6DS33, maybe also the magnetometers but otherwise we can probably get these prototyped / PCBs ! Another fun Open-source hardware design coming soon! @Raspberry_Pi @espressifsystem

Just updated my big list of more advanced / crazy BBC micro:bit projects. Make a binary adder! Print surreal stories on a thermal printer! Do the kettle run in less than 10 parsecs! Write a 7 segment LED display driver in MAKE CODE BLOCKS! Get kids making their own programming language for younger kids! Play NIM to win! And many more.
It's all here, fill your :bits!
