Day 40 of recovery break. Today was a 15 KM walk around in the windy rain with a friend. My knee and hip don't feel too put out by this, so I think I'm close to restarting running, at least a bit.

I dreamed about running last night. This is getting serious. I almost never remember my dreams.

1) Parliament Hill with the Peace Tower in the centre with the lawn in front in the rain. 2) Closeup of a variety of different types of tulips blooming in Colonel By Park, with some trees in the background

Seems government is downsizing, putting 10 of their office buildings up for sale or transfer.
Kaite Burkholder Harris of @ottawaalliance has a good idea - repurpose some of these for non-profit affordable housing.

Tuesday’s 25km of around . In the last ten-ish minutes, two vehicles blocking a crosswalk, and the positive pick-up truck interaction I mentioned yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zwhG_so5bA

Just checking in on the situation, via wastewater test results. This graphic last updated on May16.

We're in better shape than most of last year (2022) but there's still more measurable virus around than Feb/Mar '22 – so caution still seems warranted.

Day 39 of recovery break. Lovely crisp morning (4°C) for 25 KM of around .

My activities specifically avoid roads so I don't have to deal with traffic, but there's one section where the Rideau Canal Eastern Pathway dumps users onto Sussex at Wellington/Rideau, so I go down Sussex in the bike lane once it appears. Imagine my surprise when construction blocked the bike lane and a pickup truck yielded and let me into traffic. It's never happened before. Thanks!

Lovely day for a bike about , only one car tried to overtake and immediately cut me off - ironically because the road ahead was closed to cars but not bikes 🚴

A good 4.5km walk today, through Hampton Park and along Byron to Churchill.

Man, our city street & feature naming people had an unhealthy obsession with all things British. It's a bit ridiculous when you see it on paper, or in pixels.

In the Rideau river yesterday. Got some nice pictures of this guy. Too stubborn to jump in the water when we got close. Serious turtle side eye.

Temperature only went down to 5.9C last night, and the winds continued to blow overnight, reducing the effect of radiative cooling.

Tonight, model forecast temperature is slightly lower, but the forecast winds are lighter.

2 models think a cloud blob ahead of Wednesday's system may pass over between 11pm and 4am, which would be very helpful, but I'm pretty skeptical.

I have some edamame peas, I'll put those out. But everything else is staying in until Thu.

Day 38 of recovery break. Today was a 12km through . The greenery is really popping after the rain. Nice and cool morning makes me really appreciate the weather. Must have said good morning twenty times today, including chatting with two "regulars”.

1) Recreational dirt path through a young and very green forest. 2) Rideau River going over a small dip, creating a standing wave where the water drops a few centimetres. 3) Recreational dirt path through a forest. 4) Path through Strathcona Park with fields with scattered trees, benches, and light posts.
