@Daojoan A good community benefits from using both forums and live chat tools. Neither are direct replacements of the other.

It is sad to see forums slowly fall off, as BBs of the 90s did.

Every time I watch Wizards of the Coast employee play Magic, it becomes more obvious why the current state of the game is as awful as it is. They're all so wrapped up in making stories and creating "OMGLOLWOW!!!1!" moments that they can't begin to fathom what would actually be fun for the average person to play.

If they spent a couple sets focusing on making the game last longer -- rather than being over on turn 3 -- more players would return to it.

@tapandrollgames I've never played magic for stories. Never even thought about it. I played paper magic from 95-05ish. Got into Arena a few years ago and dabbled briefly in paper magic recently.

It's a totally different game, people do the local game stores seemed to dig the characters, stories, and overall world of magic. It makes sense though. It turns it into more than just cards. People will watch movies, TV series, buy posters, and more stuff that features these characters.

    I just read another news article about why mastodon didn’t make it and is dying. It’s very sad to hear and probably explains why I have to keep adding more server capacity to handle all the people quitting mastodon.

    Ever notice how forgiving loans is suddenly a big problem when students get much-needed relief, but nobody blinks an eye when the richest 20% of American households get their PPP loans forgiven? Or when corporations are handed billions in subsidies?

    People are finally waking up to realize these platforms are not ours. If what you post is important, lead your followers "home" - your own website or platform.

    I literally get more texts from random democrats across the country asking for money than I do texts from my own elected democrats asking me to help organize my neighborhood, that’s a problem

    @seachanger I can't help but ignore every political text because if they think I'm going to click a sketchy link from a phone number I don't recognize after being told some extreme story sprinkled with urgency and guilt..

    @seachanger I already mark them as spam because I did not ask for endless text messages. I ask to be removed regularly. I even opt out of emails and still get blasted.

    Political marketing is awful. They don't follow FCC rules and no one holds them accountable as far as I can see.

    I thought those are more like communication apps, like Signal, Android Messenger (or whatever it may get renamed to)

    You can be social on them, but do they have profiles, hashtags, and public feeds to follow like Twitter, IG, Mastodon, etc?

    Thinking about how several states have laws banning people from taking newborn puppies away from their mothers before 8 weeks because it is traumatic—yet only 16 states (15 Dem & 1 GOP) and 0 federal laws mandate paid leave for new mothers.

    USA treats dogs & puppies better than moms and babies😳
