@CoinOfNote @AimeeMaroux Personally, I don't really mind exposure to other numismatists here being sporadic. I belong to various coin forums for that. Here, it's a nice surprise when it does occasionally turn up on my timeline, amid the much more diverse posting

    @FrightenedRat @avuko @fbarton I have a mixed reaction to caffeine. It's as if, despite the physical jittery response, (palpitations etc), my brain feels calmed to the point where it can aid sleep. The calming reaction to stimulants generally is something I've heard a lot of ND describe. In my, ahem, experimental youth, I had a similar reaction to 'uppers'. As friends started bouncing around and nattering, I'd feel like bed 😂. But I'm unusually sensitive to many other drugs 🤷‍♂️

    @avuko @FrightenedRat @fbarton Hmm, yes, the exceptional ability to mask has had that effect on my own tolerance levels. I hadn't thought of this before, but rather to my own detriment, it has, in my past, led me to excesses in pursuit of being able to let go, right up to the point where that control suddenly implodes under the weight of intoxication. A middle ground can seem unattainable

    Interesting insight..masking isn't just for others. It's also a way of dissociating from one's ND self

    I want to address something I've been thinking about recently. As far as Religion, Afterlife, ect, I'm solidly in the "I don't know" camp, and I'm fine with that. I think any Religion, Religious Institution, or Religious Leader who has used spiritual beliefs to oppress, control, manipulate, or financially gain from other people should be both questioned and mocked, and I have no problem doing it, or with other people doing it.

    The issue I run into on Mastodon is Aggressive Atheism. I have no issue with atheism at all, but I do have a problem if it's used to attack other people for their personal spiritual beliefs. If someone is making a comment about something they believe personally, and they aren't hurting anyone with it, jumping into the comments to say "PROVE GOD IS REAL" is just as annoying and pointless as a couple Religious people knocking on your door, and telling you, you must accept their Lord. This is simply a matter of respecting other people.

    @ShredderFeeder @RickiTarr I suppose, generally speaking, I can respect a person's beliefs more readily than I can respect their religion, for the simple reason that their beliefs precede how they may then be organised by priests (which is when they become most likely to negatively impact others). I can respect a person who believes dandelion seeds are fairies. It might seem rather lovely. Till they tell me the high priest of dandelions insists they murder all the poppy elves 😳

    I understand the presumption of innocence. I also dislike the maxim that "there's no smoke without fire." To not appreciate these things sails close to reactionary thinking. But four women making accusations is more than smoke. So are investigations by two fairly reputable news organisations. There still needs to be fair trial, but anyone who at this stage presumes a 'witch-hunt', or a 'political stitch-up', or that the victims are lying, exposes themselves in a very bad light

    Also, both yesterday and this morning, my brain was convinced that I was leaving for my holiday today, rather than Monday, which really did not help me sleep.

    @Roadwarrior29 @fkamiah17 @RolloTreadway Yes, I'm considering that option too. Slightly prejudiced against dehumidifiers (unreasonably) due to one experience of them long ago with a model that was probably from the 70s or 80s. It made such a racket and wasn't that effective. To overcome that mental hurdle, I really need someone to recommend a good compact model for me

    As a mythical archetype beyond the original tale and certainly beyond Disney's kitch interpretation, Alice has always meant a lot to me personally, so it took a while for me to feel brave enough to attempt to do her justice
