The Supreme Court is hearing a case on whether people with a history of domestic violence can be prevented from owning firearms. This is madness. It shouldn’t even be a close question. But because such laws weren’t in place back when they were burning witches at the stake and women were second-class citizens, the gun folks claim it violates the Second Amendment. Give me a break.
I don’t get it. Biden has done a fantastic job as president and seen us through some of the toughest times in recent history. The economy is strong, unemployment is at 60-year lows, inflation is tamed. But there are people calling for that youngster to drop out? (I have 6 years on him…) Why aren’t they calling on the guy who’s been indicted in four places and charged 91 times to drop out?

Wow. A report by Roger Sollenberger from The Daily Beast reveals that the new Speaker, Mike Johnson, claims not to have ANY bank account or assets in his family worth $5,000. His financial disclosures for years have shown nothing. Is he really living paycheck to paycheck, or is he hiding his true net worth? I mean, the guy is in the top 12 percent of income earners. Something doesn’t smell right here.

Fox criticized Biden for going to Israel, mocking him for his age and his heartfelt, emotional support of the grieving families. When he landed, he immediately urged humanitarian aid for Gaza and for restraint by the Israel Defense Forces. And he and the State Department got two American hostages freed. Think Fox will report on THAT?

So, if Kevin McCarthy couldn’t hold together a majority to support him, what makes anyone think that someone who is even less popular within the conference will have any better chance? The GOP is a joke, and I never want to hear about “Democrats in disarray” again.
Yesterday, Republicans tried to make hay out of the fact that the White House called a “lid” on public appearances. “Where is Joe Biden?” they demanded. “Biden silent after 9 Americans killed!” The fact is, Biden was working hard all day and likely in the Situation Room. Later in the day, a historic Joint Statement by France, Germany, Italy, the U.K., and the U.S. emerged on the subject of Israel and the attack out of Gaza. The GOP has to stop playing politics and put the national interest first. This is too important.
Donald Trump has dropped out of the Forbes 400 richest people list. I don’t know if it’s because they realized all his property valuations were inflated and thus unreliable, or because he’s simply lost a lot of his fortune lately, but either way, it’s sure to rankle him even more than his criminal indictments. Sad!
