Beans are a fruit, and full of nutrition, so it's actually GOOD I'm eating all these jellybeans-

Reader, the description was wrong.

I only went back to look at this after I received something covered in very hot hot sauce and mustard, which I hate. Discovered this gem/nightmare.

Kayla,
@Kayla@geekstodon.com avatar

@jared It was fried chicken pieces on fries, which was good. But it was so spicy, and I couldn’t eat the half of it that had mustard :(

So, what's the thing, what's the big thing no one can help you with? How do you cope with it?

Kayla,
@Kayla@geekstodon.com avatar

@RickiTarr I have PMDD. Bad. The only person who can truly understand is my mom who had it so bad she was able to get a hysterectomy in the 90s before PMDD even had a name. But there is one person who can and is helping me now: my doctor. After years of struggling and trying every medication possible, I’m having a hysterectomy and oopherectomy next month :)

Kayla,
@Kayla@geekstodon.com avatar

@RickiTarr The more I tell people about my surgery the more I hear they’ve had it or their mom or a friend. I’m so glad it’s becoming normalized. I told some friends at work who are male technicians and they were all super supportive and told stories of their wives and moms having it. “I’m so glad you’ll be feeling better.” I love them.

I have previously avoided woodworking because: 1. expensive tools; and 2. I like my fingers. But I went ahead and bought a saw and am playing around making a miniature picnic table for squirrels. Maybe if we give them their own food, they’ll keep off the bird feeders! Super fun even if I’m eyeballing some of it. It’s for squirrels. They won’t care. I am proud of the counter-sunk screw holes and chamfered edges of each of the “planks”. Learning a lot!

@rysiek @Alice What a bizarre article. The author seems to have no idea how Mastodon works.

A reverse coloring book. They supply some colors, and you add the line work. My bestie surprised me with this since I’ve been so low energy recovering from a tough virus. Oh, and don’t forget a whole set of micron fine point pens, which she included!!

Please keep Compton in your thoughts this as he goes in for gall bladder removal surgery. He’s had a rough go of it health-wise his whole life. After the surgery, he should have a much improved quality of life. He is a good candidate for the surgery, and the doctors are confident he will respond well. I’m nervous of course!

cc @jared

Compton lounging in the grass. His paws are stretched out in front of him, long blades of grass in between and all around him.
Compton being a crazy weird little dude. He is facing away from the camera with his little butthole showing, and he is looking back toward the camera with a crazed look in his eye.
Compton fully sleeping. The shot is top down. He is stretched out on his side displaying his very furry body and belly. A little tooth can be seen poking out.

If you could pause body aging, what age would you have paused at, and why?

Kayla,
@Kayla@geekstodon.com avatar

@RickiTarr In terms of physical ability, maybe 25. In terms of looks, I’m still waiting on that. I have a PhD plus 10 years of experience in my field, and I still get asked by admin if I’m an intern at times. My hair is getting grayer, which I love as it honestly seems to bring more respect.

Remember to clearly label your pet thermometers, folks.

Unfortunately we had to use it today. Compton is running a 104.3 °F fever. Our vet is amazing, and they’re taking good care of him, while us parents wait in the waiting room.

Parker was looking kinda rough this morning, threw up 2 times in two days, I think it's just because he's gotten into the kitten food for several days. Fully replaced both bowls with only his special food and gave him an extra dose of his stomach meds.

Hoping that helps, it's probably that, I never really tested whether it was his food, meds, or both that made him so much better because I didn't want to stress him out. I'll have to separate him at food time I guess

Kayla,
@Kayla@geekstodon.com avatar

@SirTapTap We have a special cat with stomach problems, too. We use these feeders for our cats. They can be programmed to only open to one cat, based on their microchip. They can wear a tag on a collar if not chipped. It’s easy to train the cats to use (there is a method for doing this that the instructions go over), and it works great for us. Pricey, but worth it if you can afford it. https://www.surepetcare.com/en-us/://
