Ok, there are now two things that I find ridiculous about having to use for work, both experienced today.

The Solidarity encampament at got swept this morning at 6:00 am, and a similar takedown was done at at 4am. The pre-dawn raids led to between 40 and 45 "peaceful" arrests between the two campuses and both encampments have been razed.

The old two-state solution was Israel and Palestine. Netenyahu's is Israel and West Israel.

😬The levels are so deep on this one.

A non-white Ukrainian girl was told that she wasn't eligible to be miss Ukraine, because she didn't look white. She was told to be quiet and not protest the racism.

She grew up to be a singer and influencer, advocating for non-white Ukrainians.

Then the government of Ukraine asks her if she'd be comfortable being scanned to be the AI avatar for a character that would speak internationally for Ukraine. She agreed to do this for no compensation.

I don't know if she was wrong. Just because I'm skeeved by the AI part doesn't mean she can't use her likeness to represent Ukraine.

She absolutely should have gotten paid, both on labor principles and for her past troubles.

No, and no. At worst they should have multiple avatars with many faces and rotate through them.

Backlash is inevitable, especially for a country targeted by Russia. And what's Ukrainian for "beef"?

I realize that the Fedi at this point, at least my network, skews pretty anti-religious, and fine. But please realize how much this means to so many people and how much it will mean to people in the future. You don't have to agree with an institution's theology to celebrate people no longer feeling hurt and hated and excluded.
