Today is a shit storm flowing through the internet. Because the Shitsung is affected and the modern drama must begin. 🤣😂

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@noodlejetski @rysiek Owszem, wiem

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@noodlejetski @rysiek Cóż.. Peszek. I to dość spory problem.

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@enkiusz No i właśnie dokładnie o to chodzi. Lepiej pitolić trzy po trzy w netkach, aniżeli zrobić coś konkretnego i pożytecznego. Jesteś Pan tego wręcz idealnym przykładem.
Btw.. I nic więcej.
Oddaje clou i powagę sprawy. Uczono o tym w szkole podstawowej. Może warto wrócić do tych lekcji i sobie przypomnieć?

Finally received the replacement for the replacement axle & installed it on my car today. Now I've got 2 vehicles since I had to get my converted electric motorcycle running so I had wheels while my car was down. It had been so long since I drove my car there were cobwebs between the wheel well & garage floor! I'm finding that people are mechanically challenged nowadays. So far, no one has said, "Oh, what a nice conversion," just, " Cute sticker," not realizing there's no engine on the bike. o_0

AI Laptop REACTIONS!

Checking out all the announcements today from Dell, HP, Microsoft, Samsung, Acer, Asus, and Lenovo! I did a live recording of my reactions.
Windows on ARM is getting REALLY exciting! Here are some things to look out for while shopping a new "AI" laptop!

MartinBe,

@SomeGadgetGuy To be honest I will gladly see an list of non-ai powered/supported machines. And yes it is very frustrating, what the manufacturers are doing today, especially for a person who doesn't want to have anything common with all of the forced ai bullshit. Customers who pay attention to this particular topic does not know what they can actually buy, because of lack of such important informations. Okay I can go to the Tuxedo company and get something there, but that's only one vs. many.

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@SomeGadgetGuy Nope, there is completely no need to have anything common with windoze and its already totally mainstreamed marked. An pretty good example of that is Tuxedo with their products. I honestly hope that one day they will began to made some mobile stuff as well and as good as they are doing laptops, workstations and gaming machines dedicated to Linux. There are also some other manufacturers equally so well, but I think Tuxedo leads the very correct way.

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@SomeGadgetGuy That's true. It is small company, their stuff is not for everyone. But they offer something that you can not find nowhere else. Product quality and client support quality. For that especially I am happily paying my money by buying from them. I have one of their laptops. Amazing thing. It feels like made exactly for me and my preferences. This feeling can not be compared with anything else on the market today. M$ is a monopoly for years, that's why they have such big market amount.

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@SomeGadgetGuy No worries, I understand your point. Arm is not a good idea for the future. They are and they were limited from the very beginning, even back then at the designing table. As same thing as with the x86 or x86_64 architecture is. At one point in time they will reach those borders and it will be end of story. But the completely different thing is with the RISC-V. This one is not limited in any way. I think this architecture should be developed very much. That's the future for us all.

Wireless charging sucks!
(Sucks more power that is.)
My buddy Ricky and I did a one-off experiment comparing wireless charging to FAST cabled charging. You can watch part one here https://somegadgetguy.com/b/442

I was pleasantly surprised that Qi charging had improved and kept case temperatures better in check, but we still saw elevated temperatures for roughly two hours on a full charge.

Now, iFixit delivers even more data on wireless charging, and it's not great. You're trading a lot of waste and heat for some mediocre "convenience"...

https://www.ifixit.com/News/94409/wireless-charging-trading-efficiency-for-convenience

(ht @lupus_blackfur for the heads up!)

MartinBe,
@MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

@SomeGadgetGuy Well.. That's not a novum. These are simple laws of physics that are taught in school. A circuit not galvanically connected will always need more energy to transfer it than a connected one. It's a thing well known for years, since the beginning of the electricity era.

@Im_Dylan @stemy @pixelfed This was also exactly my thought after I read their latest policy/tos changes. That's an unacceptable piece of gibberish. Besides, relaying or making ourselves dependent on something that does not belong to us, especially in the terms of contact with the support/customers is a very bad idea. Especially when lots of other, much better and way more friendly solutions are freely available.

    We are upgrading the preset SimpleX relays to the new version - it is compatible only with the apps starting from v5.5.3 (released early February) - please upgrade to the latest version and ask your friends to upgrade too.

    @simplex Did you already fix the problem with the not working adding profile picture from the device gallery? Adding it from the camera directly works fine, but not when is added from the default device file chooser and/or gallery.

    MartinBe,
    @MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

    @dpwiz @simplex I can't update to the 5.7 version. Downloaded the apk but it gives me only a "package parsing error" info. There's no newest version than 5.4 yet in the both of the fdroid provided repositories.
    I tried both apks from links given there, but without any success.

    @simplex Updated today to the 5.7.1 version from your fdroid repo and all I get after the app start is a white screen. Nothing else happens. In such state app remains indefinitely. Won't launch even to the pin lock screen.
    Any advice on how to fix that issue?

    I asked my wife to fill the bug report for me because I don't have github account.
    Here it is:

    MartinBe,

    @MartinaNeumayer @simplex Yes it does. Cleaned them already but nothing changes. Now is somehow worse I think. If I leave the app without killing it the phone get very hot and reboots itself after circa minute or two.😔
    For now I will bring the previous version from the backup I luckily have and wait patiently for the support response or fix. Nothing much I can do.

    Nova 8.0.16 has now been pushed to the Play Store STABLE release at a 30% rollout.

    This means that if you are within that lucky 30% today, you will get the update from Nova 7.0.58 to Nova 8.0.16.

    You can view full changelog for all of Nova 8 via this link:

    https://novalauncher.com/beta/long/

    The Nova Launcher Android app icon animated in a very nice way.

    MartinBe,

    @cliffwade Well, I am not particularly lucky with v8. I rather stay on the latest 7 one.

    So I have a question: how can I detach it from the store, to not accidentally upgrade the app? Somehow the module doesn't work with the Nova. Strange, because all other apps, including YT module is detaching successfully. Only this one not.
    Do I need to detach the official prime "unlocker" as well?

    Or it a chance for some "legacy" variant to be provided for people who don't want to have v8 one?

    MartinBe,
    @MartinBe@mastodon.social avatar

    @cliffwade It is not really an issue or bug. I mean is nothing bad. I just somehow don't like that new ui as I never liked this google pushed everywhere "material ui" flat thing. You know, a matter of taste.
    But ok, I will send you an email, when I will be ready with my work today evening. 👍
