Me: No, I...
Friend: Oh, you may like it (proceeds to describe podcast)
Me: Uhm, I don't listen to podcasts. Podcasts are basically talk radio for Millennials and I can't get into talk radio.
Friend: Oh
Me: :akkoShrug: You do you, tho.

@Jonathanglick I don't think the coaches or GMs necessarily would want to go that route but I feel like there would be pressure to have rivalry series from the networks.

Ron DeSantis’s baby election police force is literally out in full force, examining every suspicious looking signature from Florida’s abortion amendment petition and hunting them down.

TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT: Two Floridians charged with submitting phony signatures for abortion rights amendment
    https://www.gainesville.com/story/news/politics/2024/02/06/florida-abortion-amendment-two-charged-for-alleged-fake-signatures/72499480007/

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has charged two paid petition collectors with submitting phony signatures for a proposed abortion rights constitutional amendment, according to a Tuesday news release. George Edward Andrews III, 30, of Dade City, was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail on 10 felony counts, each of criminal use of personal identification information and signing another person’s name or a fictitious name to a petition. An arrest warrant has been issued for a resident of the same city and for the same charges: Jamie L. Johnson, 47. FDLE said the duo submitted 133 invalid petitions in Sumter, Hernando, Pasco and Pinellas counties.
FDLE’s Election Crime Unit worked with the Florida Department of State's Office of Election Crimes and Security, created by Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican-led Legislature in 2022, according to the release. The department said additional charges may be filed, and that the cases will be prosecuted by Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution along with State Attorney Bruce Bartlett's office. “Florida’s Constitution is a sacred document and there is a lawful method by which voters can make amendments," Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd said in a statement.
"However, when criminals seek to circumvent that process fraudulently, this is an affront to Floridians and the sanctity of our laws, and we will do everything within our power to ensure that Floridians and our Constitution are protected.” The proposed constitutional amendment aimed at ensuring a right to abortion in Florida has more than 996,000 citizen signatures. That’s 100,000 more than needed for it to appear on November's statewide general election ballot. It's now up to the Florida Supreme Court to review and approve the ballot language; oral arguments are set for 9 a.m. Wednesday.

@kimlockhartga @JoParkerBear I spent much of the night hung up on the "parental rights" bs and the fact that I can't opt out of lockdown drills for my 5 and 7 year old. I guess they didn't think I have the right to stop my 7 year old from having nightmares of getting shot at school. But the kids who want to buy the guns to do that very thing should have a green light. Make it make sense.

The GFS cooks up a something in the GoM... a tropical storm? A baroclinic winter storm? Looks to non-round and asymmetrical to be a TS... although it does form in the Gulf and rapidly deepen before running over Florida, then proceeding up the coast like a normal winter storm.

Usually these form over land and head at the Great Lakes, but El Nino conditions are stopping that.

It's so funny. For our first kid, all the lego sets were new, so he prefers to create things from legos using instruction manuals.

For our second kid, all the legos were in a big bin. She is perfectly content to create random things using whatever legos she finds. We get her a new lego set and she's like, "why would I build legos using instructions? That's dumb."

One is revered as a classic of American , the other is largely forgotten.

Ursula Parrott’s biographer got interested when she discovered that F. Scott Fitzgerald had at one point been hired to write the screenplay of Parrot’s “Infidelity”. Why would the most famous author of the Jazz Age be hired to adapt a story from a mostly unknown writer?

"This is the paradox that defines modern American medicine: Doctors are working harder and longer, all while patients can access us less. As a practicing internal medicine physician and oncologist, I believe we reached this unsustainable state due to fundamentally misaligned division of labor – between human and machine, between doctors and support staff, and between what is paid for and what good medical care requires."

    https://time.com/6313270/doctors-overworked-patients-access/

    MeganThomasPA,
    @MeganThomasPA@med-mastodon.com avatar

@bicmay I'm a PA, but my first specialty was in a primary care private practice. I can't tell you how much I appreciate every single person that provides primary care. It is terribly reimbursed and there is a ridiculous amount of work that gets brought home. I thought the article pointed out a big (largely unrecognized) issue for primary care: a lot of the work weighing them down does not need to be done by a provider. But why pay an MA when the provider will do the work off hours (without pay)?

@mycotropic @realcaseyrollins @emarktaylor @cfb This is how it was for us at University of Florida when I went there (about 15 years ago). Couldn't get tickets as a freshman but once you got them you could sell them for a decent profit. And it was typically recent alumni buying them for less than they would have so everybody won honestly.
