Apparently 93 Tory constituencies are outraged that a "snap election" has been called leaving them with their (short) trousers around their ankles, not yet having selected their prospective parliamentary candidate.

Boo hoo. Poor them...

Unless they were expecting our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister Mr Tetchy to cancel all future general elections, we all knew that one would have to be called by January 2025.

So much for Rishi Sunak's much-touted 'Plan.'

PhilipCJames,

Ideally, any parliamentary constituency association will have selected its prospective parliamentary candidate one or two years before the next scheduled general election date.

Obviously, this may fall foul of a snap general election when a government has a tiny majority but that is not the case this time.

It is disrespectful to both their PPC and their constituents to fail to plan a long introduction of the candidate to the voters and vice versa.

Good Morning, all

Have binge-watched #ImposterBackFromTheDead (or should that be #ImpostorBackFromTheDead?) on #Channel4

Have to say that I find the format of these documentaries uncomfortable. The story could have been told in one not four episodes and the key evidence (identical fingerprints) was not mentioned until well into episode 3, as I recall.

Nicholas Rossi is not the most attractive individual to watch doing a fan-dance; a waste of my time.

Good Morning, all

Welsh Tory David T.C.* Davies is 100% convinced the Nastiz can win the next General Election. I can sleep with Brigitte Bardot; the probability I will is vanishingly low.

Typical Tory, he rants against the Welsh Labour government for building no new roads in Wales and for trying to enforce a 20mph speed limit replacing the urban default of 30mph.

Good News! Mel Stride and that conniving Hunt have kindly informed us, ipse dixit, that the economy of the Untied Kingdom is doing far better than people give credit for and that there is no need for the unemployed to "languish" on benefits...

So we don't need to worry when we make 300+ Conservative MPs redundant sometime in the next seven months. They won't have to languish in luxury on welfare but will soon be able to get work in the vibrant gig economy they promoted.

The Heir "flies" helicopter after taking over the family business from his papa (whereas the Spare actually flew them in combat).

William sat in the front seat of the Army Air Corp Apache Longbow attack helicopter. As any fule kno the front seat is where the gunner sits; the actual pilot sits behind the gunner in the rear seat...

Either doesn't know, or doesn't care, or is worried about losing its Royal Charter?

Israel makes it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest (although the booing will be dubbed out).

Have always wondered, why does the Middle Eastern country Israel take part in the Eurovision Song Contest anyway?

Now I'm guessing that, as Hitler & Nazism and Mussolini & Fascism were European innovations, Netanyahu and Likud and their brutal ideology (Zionism?) fit right in?

P.S. I've news for Netanyahu (and for Putin too), Europe has moved on since the Bad Old Days and the European Union, born from the trauma of the Second World War is a much more preferable role-model for states' best practice nowadays.

PhilipCJames, to random

No, no, no, Israel has got it right - Netanyahu is posing a very important moral question:

Does the right of self-defence of a state include the right to commit genocide to ensure its citizens "feel safe"?

Asking for, well not exactly a friend, asking for a deceased Nazi dictator...

"Proper rats in a sack action in Swanage, Dorset, where the local Conservative Party has delivered leaflets asking people not to be swayed by the actions of Conservatives when deciding on whether to vote Conservative today.
...
So, basically: trust us to collect your bins. Those MPs sending pictures of their genitals to blackmailers, getting mixed up with “bad men” who lock them in a flat or peddling their influence to the betting industry? Nothing to do with us, guv!"

The Fixed Term Parliament Act of 2011 was of course, like much else exported from the Westminster Village, a misnomer.

The problem outlined below (the Tories ruling on stolen time) would disappear if we made a simple reform along US electoral (Presidential & Congressional) lines rather than bleating about 'a Parliamentary System is different.'

Simply fix all dates for future General Elections and stick to them +

Ironically, under our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the Conservatives have changed the voting system for mayoral elections like that of the Mayor of London from a limited form of ('Alternative Vote') to a simple (but unfair-to-voters) First-Past-The-Post system.

🎶 You say Recidivist
🎵 Tories say Reform

has been warning voters to beware -generated Deep Fake propaganda designed to corrupt public elections during this general election year by telling us to watch out for tell-tale signs like a failure to lip-sync speech and video.

Has the Today Programme ever watched - on my telly the lips and speech hardly ever lip-sync!

Good Morning, all

It's been almost two years since Rishi Sunak became our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister and he's still too frit to secure his own mandate for things like his Rwanda Transportation policy by calling a but don't worry, be happy - today most of us get to vote in local, mayoral and/or PCC elections.

Perhaps public health officials should issue a new triple-3-word slogan to Conservative voters:

STAY AT HOME

DON'T VOTE TORY

PROTECT THE NHS

Following the passing of the Rwanda Is Safe (Ipse Dixit) Act, at Jonathan Gullis celebrates the Untied Kingdom's government 'deporting' its first asylum seeker to Rwanda.

What he fails to mention is that the individual in question volunteered to be flown to Rwanda at our expense, sweetened with a £3000 lump sum, again at our expense.

And our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, fails to call his attack dog to heel.

Gullis makes American Bully XLs look intelligent.

Donald Trump and his shills on the SCOTUS are playing with fire.

Were the Justices to decide that POTUS has total immunity against criminal prosecution for 'Official Acts', they should remember that applies to all Presidents, not just Don The Con.

What then, except inherent decency, would stop President Biden from ordering SEAL Team Six to assassinate Donald Trump?

Or half the members of the Supreme Court?

Good Morning, all

Nick Ferrari cites the European People's Party as his authority for justifying his right-wing views on the Rwanda Transportation policy of the Nastiz.

The EPP is "the largest group in the European Parliament," claims Nick, "and they're not right wing" Ferrari tells a caller.

'Fatso' as one chap calls him, is so ignorant. The EPP is the group the Tories belonged to before they became the Nastiz and joined the far-righters in the EP.
