When I was growing up, I read voraciously. I was drawn mostly to #fantasy and #ScienceFiction #books . My dad simply did not get it, at all. He only really read stuff like Tom Clancy and other military fiction writers, saying that if a book isn't realistic, he wasn't interested. This just goes to show how different we are, as I've always read for escapism. This world is fundamentally broken and I don't like engaging with it too much. Give me something fantastical, something different.

#nintendo destroying the #switch emulator #yuzu (and the #3DS emulator #citra through collateral damage) further validates my decision to only buy their shit secondhand. i grew up with nintendo, i've been a fan for virtually all of the 36 years of my life so far. i've given them countless amounts of money over the years. like, i do have mixed feelings about emulating current gen shit, but come on. i'm done. fuck 'em.

I'm going to do a 24 hour stream on #Twitch of Desert Bus to raise money for the #charity Direct Relief. It will start at noon Pacific tomorrow and run until noon Pacific on the 23rd. If we raise $200, I will read a bad fanfiction on stream, at $500, I will do a full 120 shine playthrough of Super Mario Sunshine, and at $1000, I will play Dark Souls. The Legend of #Zelda : Link's Awakening for the OG #GameBoy is one of the first games I have owned and played(I still have the cartridge from my childhood, the only game that I still have that I got before my teenage years). It holds a near and dear place in my heart. Anyway, it's really weird that I'm only just now having the epiphany that it could be used as a #trans allegory. Unfortunately, I can't exactly get into why without massive spoilers, so I'll refrain from doing so.

Cropped out the user of this post. I think it's important to remember that this sort of shit might not be outright transphobia, but it sure is a vehicle for its acceptance. You gave money to Britain's most famous transphobe and now you want to share footage and a review, thus giving them more reach. Thats not allyship, and you don't get to say you're not transphobic.

I get the feeling that the vast majority of Americans do not realize just how dire the situation is for #trans people right now, and I'm not sure how to get them to understand. Gender affirming care is life-saving care. I know people who were suicidal every day of their lives until they realized they were trans. Denial of this care, which is what the Republican Party is trying to do in general, will kill people. Straight up, it will kill people.

I am not entirely sure if this image is accurate, but if it is, then it's the end of an era. Up until Alan Wake earlier this year, most AAA games could be counted on to be released on #PhysicalMedia . A tentpole game like #Starfield going digital only is pretty much the end. I own a ton of physical media dating from the Atari 2600 to modern consoles, so today is a sad day. And due to console's sketchy record regarding digital storefront, guess I'm sticking to #GOG or #Steam from now on. #Xbox

Looking back on all that social media kerfuffle lately, I think the whole "let's have everyone in the world here on the same platform" was perhaps a mistake. I'm not sure I want to have Jim Bob the Trumper reading what I post. Honestly, a curated community seems more my speed. In that vein, I'm kinda glad that my #Lemmy instance, #Beehaw, decided to defederate from a couple of instances with open signups. I don't care about big numbers or clout. I just want to be with my people.

Went back into my old #twitter account and posted a farewell message. I would've deactivated immediately, but instead I'll give it a day to hopefully get a few more eyes on the GoFundMe. I don't know why the "cisgender is a slur" thing was the thing that finally prompted me to get rid of it versus just leaving it dormant, but, whatever.
