And Iโ€™m seriously impressed by how quick your migration wasโ€ฆ I only had 24 posts on Substack but it took me 3 hours to go through each one to manually remove its branding and to fix video embedsโ€ฆ

I've just migrated all my blog posts from to .

If you are tempted to do the same, I can assure you the process is super simple - especially when using Ghost (Pro).

All you have to do is export your Substack data and then go to Ghost Settings โ†’ Advanced โ†’ Lab -> Substack Migration... the process takes just a few minutes, it's all drag and drop.

Yesterday Google Doodle celebrated the work of Agnรจs Varda (my ultimate role model!)

Illustrations of Varda took over the Google homepage, replacing its logo. It was GLORIOUS, but sadly today it was gone.

So, with a bit of code, I brought it back.

Anyone know how I can make this permanent? cc @andypiper @dimillian ๐Ÿค—

The network effect for is gaining some serious momentum right now. As more services adopt the protocol, more people, more communities and more content are added to the network making it increasingly more valuable for everyone. This will only accelerate in the coming months as Threads, Wordpress, Tumblr, Flipboard and others federate.

We're still in early innings but there's no way to put this genie back in the bottle. The open social Web / the is going to be huge.

My feed was filled with posts by brands and influencers I didnโ€™t follow on Instagram - and could not care about.

Iโ€™m on Airplane mode on a device with no SIM card and no other apps (other than stock Apple ones). I have a VPN set to LA and NextDNS onโ€ฆ

Tried various VPN configurations (double VPN, onion) to no avail.

And all of a sudden my ENTIRE feed is made up of strangers / brands - nobody I follow ๐Ÿค”

@dimillian Hi Thomas! FYI I just read on Reddit that allegedly if you create a brand new IG account with a VPN on (set to an allowed country)โ€ฆ and then connect it to Threads, the app should work.

Allegedly being the operative work because itโ€™s just a claim from someone on it, I havenโ€™t tried this

Everyone is so salty here about Meta. I've been online my whole life, I'm ok giving away some privacy for services.I know it's not only public posts, but you know, an iOS app won't simply steal your data. Threads is not uploading all my photos, threads is not locating me, threads is not accessing my health data. Sure the privacy sheet is ugly. But iOS give you control.

To be honest tho, I don't give a fuck. If I wanted to be off the grid I would not have a phone or be on Mastodon.

@dimillian I deactivated / deleted all Meta accounts years ago, but I had to start using WhatsApp again (for my daughterโ€™s nanny) and reactivated IG when EM took over Twitter.

I have them installed on a โ€œburnerโ€ phone with 5 contacts and no photosโ€ฆ I have a gadget that disables the microphone + tape over the cameras. I use NextDNS for trackers. There are compromises one can make to preserve some modicum of privacy with Metaโ€ฆ

Something happened yesterday that cemented in my mind the idea of (cc: @chrismessina) especially when it comes to citizen journalism and reporting in real time about distruptive events.

My husband was on a flight that was diverted to another airport due to a major thunderstorm and violent winds over Paris.

Parisian airports shut down for a few hours and numerous flights were sent elsewhere... I got on Twitter to read about this from fellow passengers and... crickets
