@exador23 Generac is SHIT and I’m so sorry to see them expanding more to the home market. I’m off grid, had an ecogen backup that died after 3 1/2 years, in the middle of winter. I couldn’t get anyone to look at it, checked online, and there were tons of Better Business Bureau complaints against them. Our local decent hardware store is going to start carrying their propane generators, against the advice of their own repair department.

Washington state just redid the Covid dashboard, it’s now “respiratory illness”, county info has disappeared, there’s regional but it’s by “Better Health Together”, “Elevate Health”, “Thriving Together NCW”, I have not a single clue what those are. They’re working very hard to make it more difficult for me to stay alive. It's the worst, messiest redesign of a previously functional information page that I've ever seen.

@joycebell It's now percentages of hospital admissions, ER visits, deaths by covid, RSV, or flu. No real numbers. No breakdown by county - the regions are clumps of counties, I found that key, but it's much less granular than actual county information. It's TERRIBLE.

In this week's column I call for a streamlined process for low income households to obtain energy tax credits. TLDR: Don't require them to install solar on their roof or build a solar farm in their community, let them invest in community projects that are situated where they'll generate the most electricity.

Ultimately, engage with the communities you seek to aid and ask them what they need and how to facilitate it.

What's that? the rain and mud?

Oh yeah, that was definitely a thing, wasn't it? so many noobs who don't know to just sit & chill and wait for the desert to dry out, sheesh. Well, i guess the media and the haters had fun with it all and got to feel smug for a couple days. Oh well. I have yet to see any story that actually captures how it really felt to the average burner.

A friend of mine got back from a cruise a week ago feeling sick. (I know--a cruise? She didn't ask for my opinion of that.) She thinks it's a cold; I, of course, think it's . On Wednesday, she went to a drugstore to get a PCR test. She still doesn't have the results. How in the hell are people supposed to test and be careful if it takes the better part of a week to get the results?

@augieray I helped with an outdoor craft sale a week ago, started feeling bad this week. My expired rapid tests were negative. Went to a walk-in clinic in town, waited for 4 hours to see someone, and was told a PCR test would take at least 4 days for a result, which would put me outside the window for Paxlovid. I’m older, and have rheumatoid disease, and they were supremely unconcerned. Their rapid test was negative. The bill was $400.
