I just straight up walked out of a medical appointment. Stopped speaking when it was clear I was not being respected and that I was not being allowed to correct inaccurate information. Got up and walked out with her yelling through the building after me.

Like that was a miserable experience but on the other hand the power I felt???? Untouchable. Did you know you can just leave?? Happy Pride Month my friends!!!

It's perhaps the ugliest haircut ever, but I managed to shear my llama over the weekend!

At first I tried to get him into a small pen, but he knew it was a trap. So I just started cutting (with hand shears). He tolerated it for about a minute at a time, then he'd walk away, and I'd give him a little break, then start cutting again.

I got close to 10 pounds of (really dirty) wool, and now he looks like he's carved out of mattress foam. So weird. Hopefully he'll be cooler for the summer now!

A bunch of dirty brownish wool in a clear plastic bag, with my foot for scale. The bag is maybe 4 feet tall by 1 foot across. It's sitting on straw.
The llama standing out in a grassy pasture, surrounded by eating goats. He's still got a lot of long, fluffy fur on his neck, but his sides are MUCH less poofy than they used to be, with very roughly cut wool all along his sides.

Just when I thought this weekend couldn't get better - fresh air, exercise, pretty things to look at, tons of doggos, perfectly timed spitting rain - it got better. I just walked by a lady with one of those nice kiddo wagons - WITH A DUCK IN IT. 🥰🦆🥰🦆🥰

I ran into Target today. On a holiday.

I only got the exact thing I needed.

I spent $7.

I was in and out in UNDER FOUR MINUTES. (Yes, I timed it cause I was not excited about going in there on a holiday, so I decided to make it a race, LOL.)

Oh joy, storms with possible tornadoes indicated about an hour southwest of us and heading in our general direction.

Should fizzle to just rain by the time it gets here, but Lily and I may be sleeping in the basement tonight.

(Guess who is quite terrified of tornadoes and does not like this one bit?)

Happily the very severe bits of the storm have fizzled out and we're just getting some rain and lightning.

Just had to draw the blinds cause Lily was a bit concerned with the sky being very sparkly.

But I get very disconcerted when any weather report has "tornado" in it.

The LilyMonster took her gabapentin this morning! The last day and half we just couldn’t get “Sure, I’d love a snack!” time synced up with “special gabapentin snack time” - we have buprinex, too, and it does the job, but we don’t have a ton of it, and we have LOTS of gabapentin for her.

But this morning, she chowed down her special snack straight out of the gate, then had a whole can of gooshy food, more snacks, and is happily snoozing. Yay!

Oh, and when I picked up some more buprinex yesterday, the vet tech and I got talking about administering meds and she said they have prozac in a transdermal gel now - just rub it on kitty’s ear and you’re good to go!

Oh my god how I wish this had been available when we still had the late great Carminator, my little Prozac Princess. We got VERY lucky that she liked pill pockets - but we did go through every flavor to find the ones she liked, and there were still those “Nah, I’ll pass” days…

So, I was at the store and wanted to get some kind of ice cream treat and I saw they had little drumstick ice cream cones.

I had no idea they had little ones and it's been forever since I had one - and OMG, they are just as good as I remember, and yes, getting the box of them was an EXCELLENT idea.

And yet I still wonder why there is that bit o' squish at my waistline, LOL.

Despite the weather ranging from overcast to just gorpy - the beer festival was great. Lots of good beers to try, great chicken kebab from one of the food trucks, and I WON SOME ART!

It’s at the local arts center and they had art battles - 3 rounds where the artists had a theme & 45 minutes to create things and they made some AMAZING work. Everyone had raffle tickets to try and win what they liked, and I got lucky!

The other wild thing about being an adult is when you realize you don’t have to be a lottery winner to get awesome original art - the artist is Helena O’Neill - and I got this piece yesterday. I have another piece she did from last year’s festival and that is when we found out that we know her daughter! She was the featured artist this year and her art is almost all nature themed, which is my jam, and I’d buy all of it if I could.

So, I’m on NextDoor, because IDK, good place for “bear on my porch” videos, but I’m there.

Someone posts that a no-signal intersection out of a busy shopping center is right turn only now.

My hand to god, 10% of the responses were “yeah, lots of left turn accidents there, good idea.”

The rest were split between, “Well, actually it was the state not the county that did that” and “People shouldn’t be allowed to drive rather than fixing an accident laden intersection.”

So, my vet's office is closed one Saturday a month - very good thing in my mind, they all work insanely hard and it's good to have a little extra time off. It's announced well in advance every month, so it's not a surprise to anyone. (Plus we have excellent emergency vets in the area.)

The day off is this Saturday.

The local beer festival is also this Saturday.

Coincidence? I think not.

Managers - don't just assume your folks know they're doing a good job. (They had.) TELL THEM OUT LOUD.
