There is a myth about white text over black backgrounds being the best color contrast combination for accessibility, but in reality, white text on black backgrounds creates a visual fuzzing effect for people with astigmatism called “halation”.

@paul @vasilis @stephaniewalter Easy IMHO: offer a way to switch the "theme" of your website.
I'm typing this for example right now on a web client called 'Elk Zone' and there is a little button with a sun/moon that lets me switch the website to white text on a black background (I'm using it with black text on a white background ofc)

@paul @vasilis @stephaniewalter Normally I flee websites with white text on black background immediately. If I REALLY want to read an article on that site, I have to use Reader Mode in Safari or copy the text and paste it to notes.
And to answer your question: I don't know how to do that🙈

Aus aktuellem Anlass: bitte kein weißer Text auf schwarzem Hintergrund auf Websites, in Präsentationen, Apps usw.

Das ist für manche Menschen mit Astigmatismus eine absolute Katastrophe. Ich kann solche Texte maximal ein paar Minuten lesen, habe dann für bis zu eine Stunde schwarze Punkte im Blick und bekomme davon sogar manchmal Kopfschmerzen.
