D&D (1e & 4e). Napoleon Dynamite-like martial artist. Music & mythology nut. Not a comics guy, but love MCU, DCEU, Thor, Nebula, and Shazam. Blog at https://gsllcblog.com/. Star Trek over Star Wars, but both are great. This account is solely for nerdy stuff. Politics, law, sports, etc. are dealt with elsewhere unless somehow relevant. I've been contacted by a law student in Seattle. She's writing a law review note on the and following in my footsteps by discussing the rarely-discussed concept of misuse. She's citing my work and, I hope, adding more to the argument. I hope this is a trend. More information is better, but I'm tired of arguing about it.

@randomwizard Well, what I was doing was writing the entire 5th edition PHB in my own words. Because copyright extends only to the specific expression of the rules, my distinct expression wouldn't infringe theirs. However, they backed down on the OGL 2.0, so there was no longer a reason to punish them for it. That could (and probably will) change, but for now, I don't want to ruin a market for a company. They're the dicks; not I. But it's about 40-50% finished, so fuck around and find out, WotC.

@slyflourish We'll be moving into L2 (The Assassin's Knot) in my 1st Edition game soon. I'm also writing something similar for the 4e game but on a grander scale. Still, I think some of these ideas are applicable to that game as well.

I’m not throwing out D&D. I love D&D. This love does not extend to Hasbro.

I’m a fan of many of D&Ds designers but not a fan of Hasbro’s push to a dominant digital walled garden. That cuts its customers off from the larger hobby instead of expanding it.

I’m happy to play other RPGs but I still love D&D.

@slyflourish I always say, "Separate WotC Legal and WotC Corporate from the WotC creatives. They're very different groups of people."

@deidungeon No idea. I pulled it from Facebook. All I can say is that it's got to be from England because 1) the reference to pounds as currency; and 2) the mention that the Monster Manual was the second book released. As for #2, people are commenting that it was the first book released in the US. Not sure about that.

I just saw an add for an FX original series. As I was watching it, I said to myself, "Is this a remake of ? Because there's fertile ground for a remake of Shogun." It's a remake of Shogun.

I'm thinking of a trip to soon and thought, "You know what would be great? Taking the . I love the train. Coach feels like first class. The train would arrive in downtown Chicago right where I wanted to be. Perfect!"

<record scratch>

So, I looked it up. DC to Chicago takes about 24 hours. IIRC, flights (non-stop, of course) take about two hours and cost about the same.

Does the train industry not want us to use them?
