Yesterday, Costello behaved so atrociously on the witness stand that Juan Merchan cleared the courtroom to admonish him & the defense attorneys. Costello is due back on the stand
Tomorrow in the Trump election fraud trial, Cohen's cross examination will conclude. The usual suspects on TV will offer their hot takes as to whether the defense 'scored points' or 'dirtied up Cohen' successfully.
Let's try to stay focused on the facts, not some kind of sports coverage analogy.
Bottom line is going to be, did Trump approve "grossing up" Cohen's payment, thereby commiting fraud, as shown in this piece of hard evidence, the Cohen bank statement with Weisseberg's notes?
Important question: when have large-scale student movements been on the wrong side of history?
I may be biased by my progressive leanings (no, scratch that, I'm definitely heavily biased by them) but it seems like we can reliably look to the young to see the direction we should be moving.
I don't care where you stand politically or your views on the fucked up situation in Gaza, everyone should be standing up to loudly support the rights of students across the globe to protest.
@FantasticalEconomics@BernieDoesIt The Iranians transitioned from a brutal secular dictatorship to a religious one, to thunderous applause and plenty of student support.
And the massive brain drain that has occurred since is a testament to the ongoing support from young people and being on the right side of history.
Thank the lord for Tish James. If you look at the research she did into this bond it made my head spin and I'm a math teacher. She understands all of these fancy finance games, and I guess you'd need to do her job in NYC. We have the worst/best "banking wizards" sometimes they break the laws of physics, sometimes they just break laws.
This bond is a stinker. I wonder what Trump promised the guy to let his company implode as sacrifice to avoid the full fee?
So, maybe you heard that Trump got a $175M bond for his NY fraud appeal. Well, it seems his bond deal is falling apart and the NY AG may be about to start seizing his properties.
"An insurance company will not be permitted to post a $175 million bond for Donald Trump while he appeals a fraud judgment, a former federal prosecutor has said... as a result, New York Attorney General Letitia James will be able to begin enforcement proceedings on Donald Trump's properties."
@mastodonmigration
Why couldn't $175m have been raised as part of a syndicate before? Suddenly it was easy when the appellate court caved on the amount?
The moment they lowered the bond to $175m, Trump decided they were suckers and was going to try to play them.
All it would take for AI to completely collapse is a ruling in the US saying these companies have to licence the content they used to train these tools.
They simply would never reach a sustainable business model if they had to fairly compensate all the people who wrote, drew, edited, sang or just created the content they use.
Simply being forced to respect attribution and licenses would kill them. Will that ruling ever happen? Maybe not. Should it? I think so.
@thelinuxEXP I have used every one of those words in a previous post.
You will be hearing from my lawyers.
It all depends on how the information is reused.
If whole passages are copied, that is copyright infringement. But using a collected works to learn what is proper is basically how humans do it on a much larger time scale.
You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power; why can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with nor care about, like a war?
