remember how the US post office was doing great actually, pretty phenomenal really, until republicans pulled that weird forward funding crap and then trump installed one of his own corrupt mega donors to run the place and then Joe Biden just left it like that

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@seachanger big part of my whole project is to show what areas have had the worst delivery times. Still don't have enough data to show that, but at least I'm sending little moments of joy to the folks who do sign up.

Keep things fresh in your relationship by getting a new dishwasher.

Whole new debates about how to load it will emerge.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@gretared omg! so true!

I eventually said, "if you want me to load it let me do it how I see fit to. You should too, but I won't pester you about it."

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@gretared I'm not sure I've heard of it....but faint tickling at the back of my brain

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@Kleen @gretared I only care about these thing when they impact me...like I won't touch dishes in the sink if they're likely to topple over....but I'm ok with unloading the dishwasher no matter how it was loaded

Our faculty affiliate Elaine says "The ideal solutions, she adds, require talking to patients and the clinicians serving them to find out what they really need, and letting their input guide the development process. App developers, Nsoesie says, are typically not doing that research or soliciting feedback.

“That’s just more effective,” she concludes. “But it requires that you actually prioritize people rather than money.”

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@DAIR Given my very recent experience in a hospital, for cancer surgery, the last thing I want in that space is unguided AI.

In my observations, every piece of tubing, every procedure, was shaped by human experiences...both patient and caretakers. Over decades of experiences and iterative improvements.

Tossing some cost-saving AI in there?

I'm not sure I would have come out of this as well as I have, if that takes over.

By the way, I came home a last Saturday.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@DAIR Plus, everything I've heard from healthcare folks has been about diagnostics...and how little access most people have to them.

To save people from Cancer, people need access to testing for Cancer....not some 'magic ai' whatever.

which one to choose?

Every now and then, I check in on that old place, just to make sure nobody has hijacked my old account.

Was greeted with this piece of trash message.

I guess he wants to chase off everyone who isn't a rich white guy.

Ugh! He's just so...he's words I won't let myself type into this post.

Editing to mark the screenshot as sensitive, because it's a screenshot of a Muskrat post.

Working on a little experiment, with some of the prints I started from one of this year's challenges.

I've been meaning to start these for ages, but didn't have the energy until now.

Oh, this one is hard to describe. On top of one of my generative art prints, with lots of blobby shapes, I've embroidered chain stitches along the edges of one of the blobby shapes.

Today, I felt like drawing membranes. The ink I chose for the phospholipids was a lot lighter than my usual inks, and things got pastel pretty fast.

Then, the story emerged. I've posted it for my supporters on Patreon and Ko-fi:

Playing with inspiration from a fading flower. Turning my observation into an abstraction and then thinking abut how these patterns might fit into a diagram structure.
