    An attempt to weaponize nostalgia around an exclusionary vision of the past in which discriminatory traditional hierarchies of race, gender, and religion were much more strict, imposing a much clearer order on society.

    There was a study (not peer reviewed) last week that suggested that Betelgeuse is in its carbon-burning stage. At the end of a big star's life, as it runs out of lighter fuel and starts fusing heavier elements in its core, the time it takes to go from stage to stage drops exponentially. A star that is burning carbon has decades left. Which means we might well get an amazing show in our lifetimes.

    It's not easy to invent a new packaging solution, but this was genius. It solves the really well-known problems where sour cream gets easily contaminated, and spoils from oxygen after a very short time.
