Another terrible run, hot and with my heart rate out of control. I cut it off early in frustrated disgust. I am not myself & I can’t explain it.

My stress and sleep issues have mostly resolved and that two weeks without running shouldn’t have affected my fitness as much as it has.

And while I may not understand it, it’s clear to see. I went through the stages of grief on the walk back & am mostly landed on acceptance. Will now run slower & target zone 2, rebuilding my vanished base.

1k running, 4k walking - very frustrating but finished.
Really not coping well with being injured, going to investigate some strategies.
Thanks for all the encouragement here.
Tons of people at Hastings this morning.
Huge thanks to all the volunteers.
Enjoy your weekend and your running.

Thanks, just need a bit of research, rehab and patience. (Last part is the tricky one !)

So I did 4k run/walk/run in the sunshine, being before 7am on a Sunday town was super quiet, which was lovely. Hard to believe with these blue skies, but rain is supposed to be here within the next three hours. After running outdoors I actually feel mentally/emotionally good for the first time in two weeks

Friday: 121 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of yoga for runners, 31 minutes of Strength training, followed by 6.6 km of (0°C), picked up groceries, and walked home.

I tried dialingmy running back this week, and I think I have to try and take next week off completely and possibly book an appointment with my doctor to see what she thinks is going on.

Monday: 160 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of Yoga for runners, 21 minutes of strength training, and 10 minutes of core training, followed by 5.2 km of (-4°C with a windchill of -8°C), picked up groceries, and walked home.

Nice and cool run, at least. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Monday's of the day is a YT video - Lacuna Coil – In The Mean Time (with Ash Costello)

1) Bordeleau Park, turning green with the gravel path going into the distance with tall trees. 2) Tall willow tree with Rideau River behind it. 3) Gravel path through threes leading to the stairs at the north end of Strathcona Park

The 160 seconds of plank is impressive enough on its own but then the rest of the work out...

Thursday: 142 seconds of plank, 20 minutes of HIIT, 11 minutes of runner’s yoga, followed by 10.4 km of (4°C, “light” rain, and a 22km/hr wind), picked up groceries, and walked home.

This is possibly my least preferred conditions to run in: cold, windy rain (although cloudless +30°C would be a close second).

Contemplating taking a week off running to give it a break and see if that helps. Cycling's easier on the knee. 🤔 Why can't this be easier?

1) Rideau Falls, seen from the west side, flowing heavily. 2) Gravel path on the east side of the Governor Generals, with a large decorative fence, with trees, and a wet road on the right. 4) Large tree on the shore of the Rideau River

Weeks without running for me and my uncooperative calf muscles.
Just about made it through an hour of Pilates this morning.
How do runners cope with enforced time off ?

Ooooh 5.6km run/walk, one song on, one song recovery throughout. Managed it all comfortably right up until the very last minute, which was a sprint which defeated me! 51’ 30” exercise to start the day right 😁

I had a good evening at the jazz last night, I just lied a lot when people asked me how I was. And I slept OK but I feel sick with anxiety this morning for NO REASON. My supervisors are being supportive so I don’t need to worry about PhD stuff. I don’t need to do anything I don’t want to today. Yet still I can’t swallow. I’ll go for a run once my grocery delivery has been, that might help

Just been out in the sunshine for a 30 min/3.5km walk/power walk/jog/run intervals thing. I managed to jog continuously for 10 minutes which is the longest I have been at any sort of pace for months. Getting back to is so much work! Thoroughly enjoyed myself though

An enforced break from running, calf muscles are uncooperative.
How do runners cope with not being able to run ? (Badly, I guess).

Plenty of stress around at the moment which running would really help.
I've never taken my physical fitness for granted but the next few weeks are going to be frustrating.
Enjoy your running !

1️⃣ Band-assisted pull-up x7
2️⃣ Band-assisted dips x12
3️⃣ Elevated single-calf raise @ 5kg x8/side
4️⃣ Loaded beast, front step, front kick & back x3/side
5️⃣ Push-up x3
6️⃣ Side-to-side plank x12/side

I have to keep it easy on the lower body this week because I'm my first 10k race on Sunday.
So no high impact exercises. I think I will skip circuit training on Thursday and do 2 hours of juggling instead of 1.

Me doing side-to-side plank
Me doing push-ups
Me doing band-assisted pull-ups

Thursday: 141 seconds of plank, 7.1 km of (-14°C with a windchill of -24°C, w/h gusts to 38km/hr),picked up groceries, and walked home.

Cut my run short as the 4km loop I was planning on taking largely looked like smooth ice, so I went over the Adawe crossing into Strathcona Park, and did groceries.

Pop tarts were on sale, and we're going up to Algonquin park in less than two weeks… something to look forward to.

Friday: 200 seconds of plank, 13 minutes of kettle bells, followed by 6.2 km of (0°C with a windchill of °-5C).

Firstly, woot! Hit my plank target; figured it was Friday and I should go for it. Sore though.

Opted for a shorter run today to try and save some energy for the long day ahead.

23.3°C to us Europeans, but yes - too hot for January.
