Corporate America seeks a return to the Guilded Age.

My firm’s biggest client just cut all of their contractors in marketing, IT, advertising, and design with zero notice and basically told their overworked in-house teams to suck it up. They’ve got investors to please. Now I have to cut my subcontractors unless I replace the client quickly. We’re all scratching our heads… to do this right in the middle of multiple large projects underway. 🙁

This is the real “trickle down economics.”

@KatM it's coming up on the end of fiscal after all, so we need to be "lean" to show the market and shareholders how extra serious about making money we are.

What is the point even anymore? If it's not ad free why pay? (I guess they will have ad free if you pay more??)

Well I waste too much time watching stuff anyways. I got rid of youTube for this and others will follow. Not paying OR watching unless I can avoid ads.

Ads are a huge and harmful force on my quality of life. I will go to great ends to avoid them. I also use blockers, naturally, but blockers aren't perfect. (YouTube still has "mid roll" ads even with the best.)

@futurebird I'm still just doing what I've always done: pirate it. I paid while it felt like a good deal, but once Disney started pulling its content from Netflix I knew the writing was on the wall. So I dusted off my tricorn hat, checked the state of piracy these days, and have built an automated stack that works like a PVR. It's easier than ever.

    What no one told me about having three : you will always have too many open spools of filament to store properly.

    I also never thought I'd get decision lock about WHAT to print now. But I'm thinking about the three printers sitting idle on my work bench and I can't figure out what to do with them right now. There are a BUNCH of prints I want to start, but do you think my brain could commit to the colors I have open? No, of course not.

    Unlike the majority of citizens, selfish politicians who promote & enact unsafe public health policies that bring great harms to the general public, can afford plenty of private medical care services & avoid a lot of suffering because they're very privileged.

    They don't care if more citizens die or become disabled or go bankrupt or homeless from being unable to access/afford essential medical care, prescriptions & medical supplies. They don't suffer like many citizens have.
