Rs are attacking judge, witnesses, prosecutors & trial as illegitimate. This isn't just helping Trump evade the gag order. The point is also to display in spectacle form that their fealty is to him over the rules that make the system function

I have something over 8000 #YouTube videos on my Favorites lists. My YT viewing history is ... I don't know how long. Enormous. I've been watching YT since it began.

A standard refrain in YT videos these days is the voice over entreating you to "Like and Subscribe (and click the Bell!). Like and Subscribe. Like and Subscribe.

Last night, for the first time ever in memory, I saw a video that said,

"Please like or dislike, so we can improve."

I stopped dead staring at the screen. Did they really say "like or DISLIKE"? I must have misheard. Nobody mentions the possibility of disliking their video.

I ran it back. There it was: "like or dislike".

I'm still stunned.

I found out that Voyager 1 is once again transmitting useful data today and have been on the verge of tears several times thinking about it. It gives me a strangely deep feeling of hope. I guess it’s because we didn’t give up on Voyager. Humans are so fucking inspiring sometimes. If we give ourselves the chance, we can be better—stronger, kinder, cleverer… generally just so much MORE than we may have thought we could be.

I talk a lot about how I believe YouTube Premium is the only thing that can make consuming YouTube videos approach being an "ethical" activity, which is surprisingly controversial.

This old Tom Scott video does a pretty good job of explaining how some of what people hate the most about YouTube is actually an extremely rational approach to problems they don't even realize exist.

Watching this and even fully agreeing with Tom on this take won't get you all the way to where I'm at, but my hope is that it increases the awareness of just how much the way YouTube has handled things actually aligns with the way people consuming and creating for YouTube have become accustomed to working.
