Just beat my first Final Fantasy game! FF16!! Such an incredible experience - such an epic finale - glad I was playing on my HDR gaming monitor to see that play out!! Really love how they handled the end credits sharing all of the voice actors together as one (all languages getting equal treatment). Now to figure out what my next big game will be!! Lots in the backlog to tackle!!

So I was thinking … what about iPad Pro getting proper clamshell mode support with the M3 iPad Pro … enable support for the touchID Mac keyboard for authentication and allow for 2 external monitors when in clamshell mode just like the Macs … is this a pipe dream or something that we could see happen?

My hot take: movies on the Vision Pro are an unbelievable way to watch movies on your own at home, but they’re not at all a replacement for a good theater experience.

@matt the sound is the huge one for me - nothing like the seats vibrating from those massive speakers - the 4 or 5 times a year I venture out to the theaters that is a solid reminder why it can be an incredible time

After rebuilding my Wi-Fi setup (went from Eero to these: https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-axe7800/), I tested NDI streaming from PS5 to the Vision Pro again and, well, it's a dream.

Lag-free, 4K@60fps stream with no perceivable latency. Compression is so much better than standard Remote Play. The fact that I can make, say, FFVII Rebirth either a giant 100" virtual monitor or a compact one floating in front of my eyes is truly incredible.

Really cool discovery with the fully immersive movie theater mode in the Apple TV app (and I assume others) … I needed to throw something away so I got up and started walking - immediately the immersive theater went away and the movie screen turned into a window and kept playing with the pass through fully enabled - when I returned to my seat and sat down the movie theater automatically turned back on without me doing anything! Really nice touch.

The star rating system on AppleInsider is meant to apply a wide net. If we give something 2 stars, it doesn't mean it is trash that isn't worth buying (unless we say so in the text).

I like Apple's Travel Case. It's weird and different. Plus it's a good home for Vision Pro when I'm not using it. All points I make in the review, but readers are stuck on the score.

It's two stars because it sucks as a travel case. Simple. There are better options.

Sometimes a video render for one of my project takes 30+ minutes. On the Mac it’s no big deal, I just work on other stuff or get up from my computer and walk the dog or make lunch.

On the iPad I can’t do anything else, but at least I can leave it to do its thing.

The Vision Pro is weird because if FCP was there, I’d have to leave my computer strapped to my face while it worked. That’s…a weird concept, but at least I can chuck the window behind me while I do other stuff.
