Dang, I missed my opportunity to get a fully automated robot farm.

I was able to pick up a vermin-control unit for cheap!

@chris I've been looking for an AI-enabled fish harvesting robot, myself. "Plankton and fish and sea greens and proteins from the sea!"

@ai6yr @chris

This was compelling future-casting in the 1970's, but I sense our nutritional future is more likely to be plants, beetles & crickets...

Oh wait, not quite over. Look, robot growing basil! I suspect you could adapt it to grow algae, which you could bundle into little pellets... Soy... lent.... GREEN! (damn, I think that's now trademarked).

@ai6yr I think the copyrighted version is classified as a biohazard now…

Gotta label each basil leaf, I guess.

ai6yr,
@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org avatar

Hmm, useless robot, but I suspect you could salvage some servos and motors from these things.

Mega bargain on hydroponic rafts for somebody

@ai6yr BattleBot parts.

lkngrrr,
@lkngrrr@hachyderm.io avatar

@ai6yr Whatever in that thing is definitely not worth $68k. Even for small scale.

Seriously, people, save your money and just buy some new motors from Nidec.

lkngrrr,
@lkngrrr@hachyderm.io avatar

@ai6yr Looks like the Pipedreams guys got ‘em. I’ll be getting told if they have any of my stuff inside.

ai6yr,
@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@lkngrrr Interesting... I should know this but what's your piece of the design?

lkngrrr,
@lkngrrr@hachyderm.io avatar

@ai6yr I run technical product for mobility at Amazon Robotics (nee Kiva Systems), so all those orange and blue warehouse bots you see in the videos are my very good bebbehs :)

We see parts end up on eBay sometimes, usually scavenged stuff or pallets that “fell off of a truck”, so I’m always curious who buys them up and what they’ve managed to do with them without a spec sheet.

ai6yr,
@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@lkngrrr Ooooohhhhh... interesting.

Cristobalm,
@Cristobalm@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@ai6yr Wonder how much you’d get for the scrap metal.

ai6yr,
@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@Cristobalm LOL maybe zero, I think it's mostly plastic.

@ai6yr
It looks like the labelers we used on sliced and block cheese lines. I don't see an x-ray machine that we used to check for metal in the product.
