Back in , DTLA to be precise, for Youngest Daughter's graduation, then back home to Santa Cruz.

Staying in the Biltmore, which is the LAist place ever.

Expect to see a gumshoe walk in and slap a cheap gunsel around while letting an insult float by with the breeze before asking a frail dripping with diamonds for a light.

Oh no! A review from a customer of 30 years ago!

A pleasant assessment of The Little Garden ISP from a customer POV. It skips over the parts where I/we would be up at 4am sitting in the dark in my underpants in front of a terminal solving panics but hey time wounds all heels or something.

Good times.
We used a $1200 Telebit Trailblazer to connect to UUNET in Virginia at a blazing 112k three times a day back then.

We eventually had 20 phone lines dropped to our house in Santa Cruz and one day got a knock on the door from Vic, the local PacBell installer wondering what in the world we were up to.

Later we moved to the same building downtown as scruznet and shared their T1 connection to TLG.

The transcript is painful to read, because if it were my grandpa, our family would be having a difficult discussion on his future care.

One can only imagine his advisers appalled at him doing this interview and trying to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't listen because he spent his entire life wanting to be on the cover of Time.

First, thanks for posting all the updates.

I was cogitating this morning on going back to vegetarian.

Feeding cow brains and spines to other cows led to prions in the food chain, now we learn "chicken litter" is fed to cows and suddenly bits of H5N1 are showing up all over the place.

We'll be back in Cali soon, land of the ubiquitous certified organic farmers market.

One more

Not exactly a tank, but look at this beast of a cope cage. lol.

Makes me want to do that on my little Ford . It's small enough that I could have a cope cage in the size and shape of a GMC Yukon XL or Chevy Suburban SUV, or maybe a cybertruck to protect me from all the land yacht death machines on SoCal freeways.

Some sort of wheeled military truck with a massive cope cage frame around it covered in chicken wire and with dangling chains mounted to the front bottom.

Years ago, got to tour the Littlefield private collection of tanks and other military vehicles in Portola Valley. Included were a selection of various old RPG launchers with dummy rounds and vehicles which had been hit by RPGs.

Now drone delivered anti-tank ordinance?

No way I want to be a tanker.

EXCLUSIVE: Chilling warning UK super rats addicted to kebabs and fried chicken now 'impossible to kill' https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/chilling-warning-uk-super-rats-32522683

A top pest controller revealed the most common mistake people make that will cause an infestation in their homes or gardens - and it's creating a generation of super mutant rats.

“I’ve seen big beasts before with really thick and absolutely huge tails. When they are around fast food places, the rats are able to eat pure protein from items such as burgers and fried chicken which makes them grow bigger.”
