@Ruth_Mottram@ianbetteridge I wonder how long until the Tory party management of the BBC pushes them into getting defederated from all but the nazisphere
@CStamp@Ruth_Mottram And yet the #BBC have posted no #transphobic content to the fediverse. I hope users walk away from instances with heavy handed admins who pre-emptively #defederate based on their own prejudices - that sort of shit isn't good for the fediverse at all.
@djr
Suggesting. Not demanding. They can't force anyone to block the BBC.
It's reasonable, though. The BBC is committed to institutionalized transphobia. That's not up for debate. And the Fediverse has a longstanding practice of not tolerating transphobia, no matter how big the source. They want to play on the Fediverse, they can drop the transphobia, or else reasonably expect to be blocked. @Ruth_Mottram
I'm not going to jump in with my take, I'm not transgender and people can block, or instances can block or mute as they decide. It's a free fediverse at the end of the day but it's important to listen to trans voices on the subject.
Defensive registration is a bit of a no-brainer these days, if you can afford it (or not afford to have your brand associated with someone else using it in ways that you wouldn't).
@Ruth_Mottram Probably an experiment so they can write a report in six months saying its too hard to use, offers no engagement and is mostly populated by furry people.
