Feeling very apprehensive about our approaching summer, given what’s happening in Canada & the Med right now.

My wife and I were talking about this a few days back. I suspect many in Australia will be thinking nervously about their fire plans

@chestas I have avoided travelling to areas of high risk on hot days since Black Saturday. I still remember being on yard duty on the Monday on a smoky school oval. (We shouldn’t have been outside. Terrible air quality.) I hope everyone in areas of risk has an effective plan & knows how to implement it. Stay safe.

@Susan60

Sensible choice.

Actually, when I think about it, I think it was seeing tourists in Death Valley that made us talk about the coming summer. People heading to extreme weather danger zones to experience it!

I was working in Melbourne on Black Saturday, and living in Gippsland through the 2019 fires. Hopefully Tassie will be a bit cooler, but we'll take nothing for granted any more.

@chestas Even Tassie has experienced hot summers & bushfires. Reading that tourists were flown onto Rhodes & sent straight to emergency areas made my blood boil. Travellers can be incredibly ignorant & stupid but the companies involved should be hit with massive fines.
