The main issue is that they scaled back the teams (read: laid off) working on more important things (Relay, vpn, mastodon instance :), and another thing) so they could focus on AI. Which is unacceptable from a company supposed to be focusing on privacy.
You may view AI favorably, you may not, it doesn't change the fact that AI is (in general) related to quality of life, while Relay for example is critical for user safety and privacy.
