disposabletentacle,

Wait... I thought he listed this game being "modder's paradise" or something as a selling feature. Bethesda actually made an RPG in 2023 without official mod support right out the gate? How do they expect all their bugs to get patched??

thorbot,

Bethesda always takes 4-6 months to add “official support” that enables a lot deeper modding but you can already get more mods for this game than most other games right now.

This is normal when it comes to Bethesda’s usual release of their games’ creation kits.

Game comes out, creation kit comes out early the next year.

There's already Mod support, but it's 'unofficial' (https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/).
Most likely, what they actually mean with this announcement is that they'll add some store like they did with Skyrim 'special' edition, where they can sell you the mods and get a cut...

Weslee,

Can’t wait for charged mods! /s

I mean it happens even with the unofficial mods now, some Nexus mod makers have started releasing Patreon exclusive mods.

Yeah, and that's fine imho.

What's not so fine is for Bethesda wanting to be gatekeepers of paid content so they can get a cut.
This is the same reason as to why I don't like the Windows live store... or any store deeply integrated into the OS for that matter.
