I looked at BGrizzy1989’s tweets so no one else has to, and hooboy. Pro-Trump, transphobic, anti-woke, fat-shaming. As one might expect, it takes a pretty gross human being to freak out about less-than-supermodel looks on a video game character.
Probably the same people that mod those games to make the female character to look like overinflated balloons. I looked for interesting Horizon mods recently and a stupid amount of them were Aloy “enhancements” that defy realism in any way.
Based on this image and a similar one I saw…it’s makeup. They want female characters to wear makeup. They either don’t know that makeup is what makes them, “hot,” or they realized that it’s stupid for a space outlaw or a robot-apocalypse survivalist to be wearing a full face of makeup, so they have to say they’re ugly. Either way, these people don’t fuck.
LOL, yes, exactly. This is the kind of thing you learn about women when you have a girlfriend for more than a month. I think most of these guys don’t realize they’re telling on themselves when they complain about these, “ugly,” characters.
Ehh… third pic happened to me with a coworker a few years ago. I’ve never commented on or thought much about her make up, but one day she got to work and her lips were much paler than usual, so I asked her if she was ok and she told me she hadn’t put on her makeup yet.

I felt similarly. I know people are meaner online than in person. And I have personally known several people who just have ridiculously high beauty standards.
I didn’t understand it. As a heterosexual man, most women look good to me.
I think it’s like Americans and sugar. So much of our food is sweetened that we have to add extra sugar to our desserts and we think things that have added sugar don’t. Like our bread is too damn sweet. In a society where women are expected to wear makeup, and where most women on tv are gorgeous to the point that beautiful women play “ugly” characters our balance is thrown off. Porn doesn’t help I’m sure, but when it comes to distorting beauty standards, it can’t compare to tv, movies, and influencers. When women groom only enough to be clean it’s treated as strange. It has well known harm for girls and young women and that aspect is spreading to boys and young men. But what we see here is a different form of harm, it’s the loss of taste for what is real and natural, and in the off chance these people find themselves waking up next to a woman they’re in for a bad time.

Personally I think the character above is ugly because she looks like she’s (We’re told it’s a she; honestly looks like a 14 year old boy with 70’s hair) made out of candle wax.
If they’re going for a “realistic” style, they’re achieving GameCube era results. If they’re going with an “art style” look, they’re just outright bad at it, they’ve splashed down in the river at the bottom of the uncanny valley.
Me? I wouldn’t play this game simply because it’s got a gigacorporation-owned license. There is going to be no creativity, artistry, or vision behind it, it’s this year’s bucket of marketably familiar copyrighted stimuli designed to channel wealth from humans to shareholders. Honestly, would anyone be interested in this game if it didn’t have the branding and the sound effects library?
To be fair, there are only two female genital options in BG3. Both called “vulva”, and the only difference is one has public hair while the other does not. If it were even remotely “woke”, not only would the options be more than “innies”, but they’d be more representative of realistic variance. /my2¢
I honestly wish game devs would put their effort somewhere else. I hardly ever see my character naked. Having genital options just feels like a sales gimmick for teenagers

As someone who used to have a lot of similar opinions, it really isn’t. If anything, it was energizing to make people squirm and try to prove you wrong, only to have another issue chambered and ready to go.

You ever looked at Twitter, or Lemmy for that matter? The left is every bit as bitter and angry if not more so. Currently both sides (or at least significant portions of them) think the other is in power and responsible for all their problems, and it’s the media’s job to keep us thinking that way.
I miss the days before identity politics when it was still possible to keep political pandering and normal life stuff separate, and just enjoy my grill. But now if you use meat on the grill, you’re pandering to the right. If you use soy or lab grown vegan meat substitutes you’re pandering to the left. And thanks to the inflation both cost too much.

I’m with you on net neutrality. I have no problem with women doing what they want with their own bodies, it’s the child’s body I’m worried about. I’m not a huge fan of the healthcare system either, I just think giving “free” healthcare to illegal aliens and putting the government in charge of it will make things worse and not better. Honestly not sure what you’re on about with the violent attacks thing, but I’ve seen plenty of calls for violence from prominent leftists, and the “summer of love” 3 years ago destroyed quite a bit.
But either way, I’m not a “muh both sides” centrist. To the contrary, I think the media is trying to distract both of us sides from the real enemy: moderates.
