This is what happens every time I open / or the for Mastodon.

I cannot move it closer to the top of the screen on either of my monitors, unless I first maximize the window. When I restore it, the problem goes away.

I assume it's a problem with some shared display thing both of them use, but I haven't the faintest idea what it is or how to fix it. Relatively minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but it is still an annoyance.

The same window on my right monitor, which does not have a top panel. However, the gap remains.

@Nezchan I would bet that it is the fact that those applications have their client-side windows' composited dropshadows drawn by the application's stylesheet (libadwaita) rather than by the window manager, so maybe MATE's window manager is somehow considering those dropshadows to be part of the window's dimensions (which is not an issue I've seen on other window managers).
