@Melody@hannu_ikonen Saw a headline today about a hospital maternity ward closing in Idaho, and I image that is also happening in those states. They are going to end up with folk who can't afford to move.
@hannu_ikonen sometimes I think about how terrifying it would be to be a trans fourth year rn. At the whim of the match. No clue where you'll end up practicing and whether it will be safe for you in a few years
That's just terrifying. My (trans) kid is a US citizen, and she won't even consider a trip back to the US because she can't be sure where it will be safe between the time we decide to visit and when it actually occurs.
This is all horrific. Sending solidarity, because honestly, can't send much else.
@grrrr_shark@hannu_ikonen@Dynamicallydisabled You can always attend the Uniformed Services University Medical School. No tuition and you get paid a salary to attend. Of course, you then owe the military a few years of service, but you can do your residency during that time, so you aren't far behind your peers when it is time to set up your own practice. And you aren't in debt. One of my sorority sisters did this.
