I just got a complaint about my #photography posts, which I concluded came from a troll, but perhaps I’m actually coming off in a way that rubs people the wrong way here.
The complaint was that by posting high resolution images and describing in detail the processes used to create them, I’m merely “showing off” in a way that isn’t useful to most people.
I indeed do rather niche photography, using relatively esoteric gear. I think some people are interested in process and enjoy the results.
@mattblaze I know everybody likes to go on about unfollowing, muting, and blocking, but I think a lot of people are also overlooking one of the most basic features of social media: the ability to scroll past any post you aren’t interested in without engaging with it.
@maxleibman mine stops at every post I hate and won’t let me scroll on until I shitpost on it. Maybe I should see if that can be changed in the settings…

Try to ignore such complaints. Why would that person even follow you?
@mattblaze I, personally, enjoy your photographs, and the explanations, which are in depth. Now, I dunno who is holding a gun to the head of anyone forcing them to read or view anything that makes them feel inferior, but I really don’t think, you, me, any of us, can fix their issues. Carry on!

@mattblaze ignore those who post about your photography negatively, there is a community of photographers here, I am not a photographer but appreciate the craft.
@mattblaze I have really enjoyed your posts, both the images themselves and your technique discussions. Reading the technique discussions has inspired me to consider how I can experiment more with my own (very different!) photography.

You do great work Matt! When I’m interested in learning more about a unique shot/process I really like when the details of the technique and equipment are shared. If someone doesn’t want to read it, they can just view the image or scroll on past. I say screw the trolls.
@mattblaze as a photographer who uses vaguely related strangely geared devices, I do appreciate the details. I hadn't thought of using surveying techniques for alignment.
